HENDERSON (Lake Las Vegas)

The Ritz-Carlton Spa at The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Las Vegas has unveiled a brand new spa treatment menu.

In addition to many of the previous traditional spa treatments, The Ritz-Carlton Spa features 13 new treatments geared toward specific needs and guest demographics. All treatments and changes are based on guest feedback.

Highlights of the new menu include:

Men's Treatments: Interest in male guests is beginning to increase since the spa debuted its now-popular Gentlemen's Pedicure and Beer Tasting treatment, which includes a luxurious pedicure and five to six beer samples. Parlaying off of that popularity, the spa developed additional treatments, especially for men:

-Gentlemen's Fitness Facial: A mask made of seaweed contains minerals that stimulate, nourish, tone and eliminate toxins from the skin. Includes a tension-relieving scalp, neck and shoulder massage with acupressure that stimulates scalp circulation and follicle health.

-Gentlemen's Hand or Foot Grooming: These energizing treatments include the grooming of nails and cuticles, a moisturizing massage and a natural buff. The foot grooming also includes a eucalyptus soak, callous removal and a revitalizing exfoliation.

-Executive Facial: Along with a mild skin resurfacing, a refreshing multi-vitamin and antioxidant mask is applied to increase skin firmness and vitality. A relaxing face, neck and shoulder massage is included.

-Executive Hand or Foot Grooming: For the gentlemen who need extra tension relief, these guests will also receive an extra moisturizing masque.

Muscle Repair Treatments: Sports enthusiasts will enjoy the treatments designed to heal the body after a work-out or training:

-Muscle Repair Massage: Promotes circulation and relieves sore muscles. Arnica acts as a strong anti-inflammatory and is blended with warming bay laurel, rosemary and basil to ease muscle congestion.

-Hand and Foot Rejuvenation: With this technique, hands are immersed in hot paraffin wax to soothe aches and pains while feet are enlivened with a peppermint tea tree massage.

Indigenous Ingredients: Staying true to the Southern Nevada environment, the spa developed treatments that include ingredients that primarily originate in this region.

-Prickly Pear Couple's Ritual: Prickly Pear Cactus is a natural skin smoother and a rich source of antioxidants and Vitamin C. This ritual begins with a gentle body polish to remove surface layers of dull skin cells. Next, the guest is submerged in a bath. The final step is a full-body massage using a prickly pear shea butter.

-Desert Aloe Veil: For those overexposed to the elements, a combination of soothing aloe and cooling tea tree is gently applied to the body. Session includes a gentle scalp or foot massage.

During classic spa treatments, such as the Desert Rain Vichy Exfoliation, prior to the treatment guests can select a scent, one of which now includes pomegranate.

In addition to the aforementioned treatments, the spa will also be launching the following:

-Pure Facial: Dramatically reduces congested pores and promotes clearer skin by regulating oil production. A thorough cleansing is carried out over the face and décolleté.

-Aroma Transformation Facial: Five effective treatments in one: a deep cleansing enzyme mask; genuine aromatherapy chosen specifically for the guest's mood and complexion; a relaxing and rejuvenating 12 acu-point massage and a specific firming and renewing eye and hand treatment for these often neglected areas.

-Chardonnay Couple's Ceremony: This commences with a chardonnay sugar exfoliation, followed by an intimate soak in our jetted tub. A full-body massage with body butter made with grape seed, lavender, rosemary, chamomile and jojoba finishes this journey.

-Sacred Stone Manicure or Pedicure: Enjoy an affirming masque and a comforting hot-towel wrap, as well as a healing hot stone therapy massage.

-Alpha Beta Body Peel: The entire body is saturated with a perfect combination of alpha and beta hydroxyl acids. Following this, the body is infused with luxurious hydration.

New Packages: The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Las Vegas now offers a bevy of spa packages, designed for guests seeking numerous treatments for one price:

-Oasis: The 50-minute massage or facial is based on the guest's specific needs. The package also includes the Oasis Manicure that includes nail shaping, cuticle perfection, a moisturizing massage and a choice of a natural buff or fresh polish and the Oasis Pedicure.

-A Beautiful You: This includes the traditional Ritz-Carlton Manicure and Pedicure; shampoo and style and make-up application.

-Total Wellness: Guests will experience a holistic health consultation, personal training session and an aromatherapy elixir for 50 minutes.

-19th Hole: Fore! Designed for golf enthusiasts, this includes the new 100-minute Muscle Repair Massage and the Hand and Foot Rejuvenation.

-Chairman of the Board:
Especially designed to alleviate stress, the package includes the popular tandem Four Hands Massage, Executive Facial, Gentlemen's Hand and Foot Grooming.

-Enchantment: This includes the Sacred Stone Massage; the Le Vin Wine Therapy which begins with a chardonnay sugar exfoliation followed by rich body butter; Sacred Stone Pedicure and a shampoo and style.

The Ritz-Carlon, Lake Las Vegas, Displays New Pieces of Art . . Made from Sugar

Imagine feasting your eyes upon beautiful, hand-crafted pieces of what appears to be glass art with colors reflecting the season, with these same pieces beautifully displayed in glass displays and lit to show the intricate details.  But for guests at The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Las Vegas, when they look a little closer at the front lobby’s brand new art pieces, they will discover the pieces are actually made entirely from sugar.

Executive Pastry Chef Chris Hanmer designed and created two identical displays entitled, “An Unexpected Oasis” that are showcased in two separate wood and glass cases located in the hotel’s front lobby.  Each showcases 45 orange and blue pieces created from 150 pounds of sugar.  The entire project took Chef Hanmer more than 100 hours to craft by hand, using food coloring for the orange and blue hues.

Hanmer began planning this project in October 2006, completing the sugar display creations in February.  “When I lived in Washington, D.C., I often visited the Smithsonian Institute.  There I discovered a true appreciation of modern art which became my inspiration for developing these pieces.  Because I am a chef, it was the ideal way to combine my two passions – cooking and modern art,” says Hanmer.

The sugar displays will change every season.

Hanmer is the executive pastry chef for The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Las Vegas.  He has nearly 15 years of experience in the culinary industry.  He competed in the World Pastry Team Championship in 2004, which was televised on the Food Network.  At the age of 26, he became the youngest American to win this championship. Prior to joining The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Las Vegas in 2005, he served as assistant pastry chef for Bellagio in Las Vegas.  He has also worked at the International School of Confectionary Arts in Gaithersburg, Md., where he participated in national and global demonstrations with famed confectioner Ewald Notter.

Hanmer’s educational background includes a certificate in culinary arts from Orange Coast College, in Costa Mesa, Calif. and advanced culinary studies in France at  L’ Ecole Du Grand Chocolat.

'Figuratively Speaking: A Survey of the Human Form' Exhibit at the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Arts (BGFA)

Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art (BGFA) has opened the exhibit “Figuratively Speaking: A Survey of the Human Form." Organized in partnership with the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (MCASD) and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA), “Figuratively Speaking” will present figurative works by such artists as Pierre-August Renoir, Pablo Picasso, Alberto Giacometti, Joseph Cornell, Roy Lichtenstein, David Hockney, Judith Shea, Bill Viola, Yoshitomo Nara, Vanessa Beecroft and many others.

This engaging survey will feature more than 30 paintings, photographs and sculpture along with video installations by 26 artists whose traditional and contemporary perspectives on figurative art helped to define the genre in the late 19th, 20th and early 21st centuries.

Different schools of modern and contemporary art fall under the heading of figurative art, from Renoir’s romantic Impressionistic portraits (“The Sweeper”) and Picasso’s distorted Cubist figures (“Woman with Beret”) to Keith Haring’s Pop Art drawings and Chuck Close’s contemporary grid-like paintings. Figurative works of art not only depict a real subject, but also reflect the religious, social, political and mythical beliefs of the times in which it was made.

Hugh M. Davies, The David C. Copley Director of the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego said, “Many of these important works on loan from MCASD will be shown together for the first time, and all demonstrate the breadth and depth of the museum’s collection." Davies continued, "Spanning more than three decades of figurative expression, these selected works - by such notable artists as Roy Lichtenstein, Bill Viola, Keith Haring, Cindy Sherman, Tony Oursler and Barbara Kruger - use the figure in innovative ways, provoking the most varied of interpretations. Cultural values, generational ideals, personal experience, even the most literal and direct of references are conveyed in these figurative works.”

MFA Deputy Director Katie Getchell said, “The human figure is one of the most frequently depicted subjects in art, and through the expressive images highlighted in this survey, we see how modern and contemporary artists celebrate the vitality and individuality of their subjects. We are delighted to collaborate once again with BGFA and share paintings, drawings and photographs from our encyclopedic collection with new audiences.”

“Figuratively Speaking: A Survey of the Human Form” will be on view through January 9, 2011. Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art is open Sunday through Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Last admissions are sold 30 minutes prior to closing.
Tickets are $15 for general admission, $12 for Nevada residents and seniors 65 and older, $10 for students, teachers and military with valid ID. Children 12 and younger are free.

Tickets and information are available by calling (702) 693-7871 or (877) 957-9777, or online at www.bellagio.com or www.ticketmaster.com. Audio and docent tours are included in the price of admission. Located adjacent to the gallery, The Gallery Store offers a selection of prints, books, stationery and unique gifts.

Pink Jeep Tours Launches Grand Canyon Class Deluxe Tour Featuring the West Rim's Berethtaking Quartermaster Point

Breathtaking seclusion allows one to take a moment from life to just appreciate and enjoy one of nature's majestic wonders... that is what awaits guests who embark upon Pink Jeep Tours' brand new Grand Canyon Classic Deluxe tour.  The popular tour company is currently the only one to be granted access to Quartermaster Point, one of the most remote areas at Grand Canyon West.

Guests travel in the Tour Trekker, Pink Jeep Tours' brand new first of its kind, high-end and spacious sightseeing vehicle.  The tour includes brief stops and photo opportunities at the historic Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, the desert community of Dolan Springs and the rugged Joshua Tree forest, then continues to the Grand Canyon's West Rim, home of the Hualapai nation.

"Quartermaster Point provides modern day spiritual significance for Hualapai people to enjoy the splendor and solitude of our homeland.  Quartermaster is a peaceful experience with nature at its best," says Waylon Honga, chief operating officer, Grand Canyon Resort Corporation. Once at the West Rim, guests travel to awe-inspiring Quartermaster Point, an area named after O.G. Howland who served as Quartermaster in the Union Army under Major John Wesley Powell.  The absence of handrails, fences or crowds makes Quartermaster Point a remote and panoramic viewpoint overlooking the magnificent Colorado River.  Tour guides offer an optional 20-minute hike to another viewpoint with spectacular views of the canyon and the river few visitors ever experience.
"Taking customers to remote destinations and providing them with an escorted interpretive tour is our niche. Our custom Tour Trekkers were designed and built to leave the smallest carbon footprint possible," says Alix Reed, general manger, Pink Jeep Tours.  "We feel very privileged to be entrusted in sharing the beauty and the history of this magnificent point."

Another highlight for the guest is views of the amazing Skywalk.  Composed of glass and steel, the transparent walkway extends 70 feet beyond the rim with a nearly 4,000 foot drop below to the canyon floor.  Pink Jeep Tours provides door-to-door service from most hotels.  Pick up time is 7:30 a.m.  The tour lasts approximately nine to 10 hours.  The tour price is $224 per person, plus tax and gratuity and $32 for the Skywalk.

Pink Jeep Tours Has Become the First Independent Tour Company to Offer In-Park Service in Death Valley

In September 2009, Pink Jeep Tours became the first independent tour company to offer in-park service at Death Valley. These new tours allow guests to visit the remote areas of the park too difficult for most vehicles to access.  This is made possible by Pink Jeep Tours' new Tour Trekker, the first-of-its-kind, high-end, state-of-the-art sightseeing vehicle.  This comfortable 4-wheel drive vehicle has seating for up to 10 passengers so guests will truly enjoy this "small group" experience.

Hotel pick-up and drop-off is available from most park hotels, including the 4-diamond Furnace Creek Inn, the Furnace Creek Ranch and the popular Stovepipe Wells Village.  Tours will originate and conclude inside the park.  To make this possible, Pink Jeep Tours has partnered with Xanterra Parks and Resorts, the nation's largest park concessions management company and leader in park and resort hospitality.  Xanterra oversees and manages most resort, dining and retail offerings at Death Valley.

Once inside the park, guests can visit secluded areas such as Racetrack Playa, famous for its "mysterious sliding rocks" that move across the dry lake bed on their own; Titus Canyon with its panoramic views at Red Pass and sheer towering walls in the canyon "narrows"; Charcoal kilns and Mosaic Canyon with its smooth, polished marble walls and West Side Road offering views of the valley most visitors rarely see.  In addition, guests can also join Pink Jeep's classic Death Valley tour when it arrives from Las Vegas.  This 2-hour segment visits Badwater Basin, Devil's Golf Course, Zabriskie Point and Artist's Palette.

Covering nearly 3.3 million acres, Death Valley is the largest National Park in the lower 48 contiguous states.  Guests will enjoy the dramatic contrast between Telescope Peak (elev. 11,049 feet) and Badwater Basin (282 feet below sea level).

Tour prices range from $65 to $165. For more information, call Pink Jeep Tours at (702) 895-6777 or go to www.pinkjeep.com.

Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay Becomes First U.S. Tourist Attraction
to Debut Revolutionary Online “WALK-THROUGH” MotionVR Tours

Debuting more than 70 realistic “walk-through” tours, MotionVR, LLC (<www.motionvr.com) today announced that Shark Reef Aquarium, located at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, will be the first tourist attraction in the U.S. to debut MotionVR Tours. Now, potential visitors to Shark Reef Aquarium can map out their visit online, with a fully integrated website that features an attraction map, walk- through tours, amazing sea life photography, and more. This realistic, interactive experience brings Shark Reef to life, on the computer screen.

The most realistic “walk-through” motion tours ever developed, MotionVR Tours has data to show it has an enormous impact on web marketing, as consumers visiting a website featuring the proprietary tours are captivated for an average of more than four additional minutes per stay. MotionVR Tours of Shark Reef Aquarium now are available at www.motion-vr.com/mbsr/shark/shark_reef.html.

Using hi-tech, yet simple-to-use navigation tools, MotionVR Tour technology allows visitors to Shark Reef Aquarium’s website to walk through the aquarium entrance, up to exhibit windows, through the crocodilian exhibit, and even walk right up to the glass of the Komodo Dragon’s lair, the newest, hottest Shark Reef attraction. In addition, visitors can obtain the most advanced 360-degree views of sea life without distortion, or a “fisheye” effect, to most successfully showcase the unique exhibits and features of the popular tourist attraction.

“Visitors to Las Vegas who are considering the Shark Reef experience now can log on to the aquarium’s website and get a realistic ‘sneak peak’ of the amazing underwater adventure that awaits them,” said Dan Tilton, Vice President of Sales, MotionVR, LLC. “Based on the incredible response to the MotionVR Tours of Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, we expect that the aquarium tours will enjoy the same positive consumer feedback, and set the bar for other tourist attractions.”

Unlike standard virtual tour providers, MotionVR walk-through tours do not utilize photo-stitching software, which can lead to distorted images and patchiness. Instead, a series of high-resolution photographs are taken using high-tech cameras, which sit on a tripod and a custom MotionVR dolly. Using a proprietary software process, MotionVR creates a technologically advanced “walk-through” environment or tour. Conveniently, MotionVR enables anyone to walk through a property or venue, with the only requirement being a standard web browser with the Adobe Flash plug-in installed … which is found today on 98% of all home computers.

In addition to Mandalay Bay and other leading properties in the hotel and hospitality industry, MotionVR Tours have become extremely popular among realtors, home builders and property management companies, as well as a quickly evolving showcase technology for yacht companies, trade shows and museums, among other industries.

For more information about Mandalay Bay, log on to www.mandalaybay.com. For more information about MotionVR, log on to www.motion-vr.com.

Laurent Tourondel Amplifies Classic Burgers for Las Vegas: BLT Burger Opened at The Mirage

As the famed resort continues to grow its roster of dynamic restaurants, BLT Burger is an approachable yet innovative addition to its dining options. Tourondel was named one of Food & Wine magazine's Best New Chefs in 1998 while cooking in Las Vegas at Palace Court Restaurant. He has since created several successful restaurants around the country and was honored as Bon Appétit magazine's 2007 Restaurateur of the Year.

'It'‚s exciting to come full circle,' Tourondel said. 'The Mirage is one of Las Vegas‚ leading destination resorts, and I‚m excited for BLT Burger to join the mix.' BLT Burger offers a variety of burgers including beef, American Kobe, lamb and Atlantic salmon, each served on soft buns with tomato, red onion, iceberg lettuce, pickles, ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise. The beef patties are a combination of Certified Black Angus sirloin, short rib, chuck and brisket. Specialty burgers include the Tex-Mex, a 7-ounce beef burger with jalapeños, chili, avocado, salsa, jack cheese, onions and sour cream; Lamb Tandoori Burger, a slightly spicy Colorado lamb burger topped with mint-cilantro yogurt sauce, cucumber, olives, red onion and tomato; and a signature Meatball Burger composed of ground veal, pork and ricotta and served with garlic pomodoro sauce. In true Las Vegas style, Tourondel offers The Stripper, a 7-ounce beef burger served with lettuce, tomato, onion and bell pepper without the bun.

Though burgers take center stage,BLT Burger's diverse menu offers a number of tempting starters and salads in addition to more than eight types of fries and rings, including waffle-cut, sweet potato, jalapeño poppers and fried pickles. Beverages afford just as many options, with an array of milkshakes in classic and spiked varieties, innovative cocktails, as well as an impressive beer list and focused wine selection to quench every guest's thirst. Cocktails are cheeky nods to Las Vegas entertainment and include such selections as The Showgirl (Plymouth Gin, St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur and lemon, grapefruit and cranberry juices), Dancing with the Devil (Sauza Blanco Tequila, Crème de Cassis, lime and ginger beer) and Tumblin‚ Dice (Knob Creek Bourbon, Fernet Branca, bitters and a splash of cherry).

Milkshakes tend toward the whimsical and are inspired by classic American desserts: the Twinkie Boy blends vanilla ice cream, a Hostess˙ Twinkie and caramel syrup; Give Me S'More combines chocolate ice cream with toasted marshmallows and graham crackers; and the Puddin‚ Pop is a rich slush of chocolate ice cream, chocolate pudding and chocolate shavings. For those who want to add extra punch to their shake, BLT Burger's Spiked Milkshakes are the perfect adult treat in flavors such as The All Nighter (Kahlua, Baileys, espresso and coffee ice cream), The Highlander (Guinness Stout, Coole Swan Irish Crème and vanilla ice cream) and Malibu Barbie (Malibu Rum, pineapple juice, coconut milk and vanilla ice cream).

To further satisfy a sweet tooth, desserts include sundaes in either Strawberry Cheesecake or Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough flavors; a French twist on the usual Ice Cream Sandwich with a Dutch chocolate macaroon and hazelnut ice cream; and 'Krispy Kreme' Doughnut Bread Pudding with rum-raisin coconut sauce.

Scott Sibella, president and COO of The Mirage, said, 'Burgers, fries and shakes prepared by a chef as talented as Laurent Tourondel are a sure hit. BLT Burger is a wonderful addition to our offerings and certain to be a great success.' Designed by Rockwell Group, the 198-seat BLT Burger is an ideal setting to showcase the craftsmanship and freshness behind Tourondel's superlative hamburgers. The hip and casual setting reflects both the natural Nevada landscape and the glamour of Las Vegas with end-grain wood, walnut and yellow-glazed lava stone, accented with red glazed brick, golden furniture upholstery and dramatic lighting.

According to designer David Rockwell, 'BLT Burger celebrates the DNA of the burger with the central grill, which is surrounded by beautiful glazed red brick tile. I wanted to emphasize the ritual of grilling burgers in the midst of the Nevada landscape.'

The entrance features a dimensional wood block ceiling that is illuminated from behind, changing in color and intensity to transition from day to night. The comfortable banquettes and booths in the front section of the restaurant have views of the grill and are accented with polished, chrome pendant lights for intimacy. Throughout the space are table tops lacquered with large table numbers, simple schoolhouse-style wood chairs and patterned gobo lights that provide a club-like atmosphere for late-night dining. The 16-seat, yellow-glazed lava stone bar has barstools accented with stitching details. The illuminated bar is a perfect place for sitting and eating while watching the action. Overhead flat-screen televisions display sporting events during the day and digital imagery for an evening ambiance.

The curved walls of the back section of the restaurant evoke an outdoor environment with a 16-foot, floor-to-ceiling sepia tone panoramic photo mural of the surrounding Sierra Nevada landscape. The circular open grill is surrounded by a polished, red-glazed brick wall and covered by a large metallic dome illuminated with colored lights.

BLT Burger, located at The Mirage Hotel & Casino, 3400 Las Vegas Blvd South, is open Sunday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, 11 a.m. 2 a.m.; Monday, Thursday-Saturday, 11 a.m. 4 a.m. Reservations are not required. For more information, please visit www.bltburger.com; www.mirage.com or call 702.792.7888.

Sugarcane Debuts in Las Vegas -- Sushisamba's Boutique Nightclub at the Palazzo

SUGARCANE, a unique nightlife venue from dynamic restaurant group SUSHISAMBA, is at The Palazzo Resort-Hotel-Casino, adjacent to SUSHISAMBA's Las Vegas outpost. This decadent nightclub embraces the spirit and design aesthetic of Brazil, Japan and Peru.  SUGARCANE is the first West Coast location for SUSHISAMBA'S late night concept.

"The experience at SUGARCANE will be unlike any other in Las Vegas," says Todd Rubin, general manager, SUGARCANE. "Samba dancers, geishas, distinctive cocktails and over-the-top interior design will ensure that this interactive nightlife experience fulfills its promise for stylish entertainment."

THE SPACE

A dark corridor from SUSHISAMBA leads guests to the 4,000-square-foot SUGARCANE nightclub. Designed by ICRAVE, an award-winning design studio with deep roots in the hospitality industry, SUGARCANE's interior fuses the raw and industrial with polish and sophistication. A stage, dance floor and DJ booth are made of bamboo, smoked and frosted acrylic, resin and paper. Gold and chocolate brown leather cover exotic wenge wood banquettes. More than 4,000 custom-made simulated "sugarcanes" drop down from the ceiling and contain moving lights that wind through the tubes and rods. Internationally-acclaimed lighting designers Isometrix developed an innovative lighting program with theatrically-colored lights projecting through the dramatic sugarcane ceiling terrain. Glimpses are stolen back and forth between the main room and VIP area which is situated behind a barricade of broken-down walls and fencing behind the bar.  The VIP area includes plush seating, mood lighting, global handicrafts and Brazilian Favela street finds.

Celebrated Brazilian graffiti artist Felipe Yung ("Flip") displays his talent with spray paint in various elements of SUGARCANE's décor. As one of Brazil's most influential street artists, Flip's work reflects urban culture and Japanese calligraphy. His signature characters, including "Flipitos" (little ones) and "Jagunços" (giants with small heads), are showcased throughout both SUSHISAMBA and SUGARCANE.

SUGARCANE is available for special events and occasions. The nightclub includes 174 seats in the main area and 20 seats in the VIP room.

THE AMBIENCE

SUGARCANE will play host to a number of special events and performances. On select nights, expect capoeira - a Brazilian dance that incorporates martial arts which gained popularity in the 16th century amongst sugarcane plantation workers; samba dancers; geishas; Japanese taiko drummers; models posing as Brazilian soccer players as they juggle soccer balls at the entrance; and SUGARCANE's in-house dancers. Resident DJ's spinning a blend of music genres ranging from house to Top 40 to Brazilian and Japanese pop will on occasion be accompanied by live bands.

The percussion-driven "SUGARBEATS" promotion will take place every Wednesday night, beginning in September and will feature an eclectic variety of DJs, music genres and rhythms in partnership with nightlife guru Marc Jay. Doors open at 10 p.m. Table reservations can be made in advance at tables@sushisamba.com.

THE COCKTAILS

SUGARCANE serves SUSHISAMBA's impressive array of signature cocktails. To reflect the restaurant's Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian culinary roots, SUGARCANE's in-house mixologists offer cocktails made from fresh muddled fruits, juices and herbs. Out of 17 featured drinks, eight are exclusive to the Las Vegas menu.

Highlights on the menu include the Parisian Geisha (vodka, sake, mint and lemongrass), the Figo (Montecristo spiced wine, fig liquor, pear juice and lime) and the Bushido or "Soul of Japan" (shochu, plum sake, muddled plum and daikon beer float). New cocktails join SUSHISAMBA classics such as the national drink of Brazil, the Caipirinha, Peru's frothy and famed Pisco Sour and variations of Japanese Chu-His along with much more.

SUGARCANE's signature Cocktail Tree ($70) is a great way to experience many different drinks with groups both large and small. This festive collection showcases 12 different drinks (four samples of three different drinks), creatively positioned within the branches of a wrought-iron, sculptural "tree."

With one of the largest sake collections on the West Coast, SUGARCANE is one of the few nightlife venues to host sake bottle service. "You can order standard drinks anywhere," states Rubin. "SUGARCANE continues the tradition of SUSHISAMBA'S distinctive and fresh cocktail program."

THE DETAILS

SUGARCANE is open Thursday through Saturday from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. with no cover charge; industry night runs every Wednesday beginning at 10 p.m. The industry-standard dress code is enforced.

The Real Deal!, the first ever live, interactive poker-themed stage show, is at The Venetian Showroom at The Venetian Resort-Hotel-Casino in Las Vegas.  Working in partnership with the world’s most renowned poker professionals, the show introduces a new paradigm in entertainment, establishing a completely original live show format that combines humor, the latest in wireless technology, and abundant prizes in wildly-fun, fast-paced action that will entertain poker enthusiasts and non-players alike.

Staged in The Venetian Showroom as part of The Venetian’s extraordinary lineup of entertainment offerings, The Real Deal! empowers the audience to participate both on-stage and from their seats through the use of wireless touch screen devices.  The Real Deal! will use a revolutionary multi-player platform with interactive content in conjunction with technology from TimePlay Entertainment, Inc. Playing both against and alongside the pros, audience members will earn points to vie for prizes ranging from The Real Deal! logo’d merchandise to spectacular home electronics and more, including a chance to win a $1 million grand prize.

The Real Deal! roster of poker pros represents a Who’s Who of the sport and includes the legendary Doyle Brunson, Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, Jr., Antonio Esfandiari, Gavin Smith, Eli Elezra, Jennifer Harman, Phil Laak, Scotty Nguyen, and Todd Brunson. The pros will participate in shows each month, taking on Vegas visitors of all poker skills and experience. Combined, the The Real Deal! professionals have won 8 World Poker Tour Championships (WPT) and 35 World Series of Poker TM (WSOP) bracelets, amassing over $48,000,000 in tournament prize money.

“Never before has poker been so integrated with entertainment,” said Merv Adelson, the inspiration behind The Real Deal!. “The popularity of poker is unquestioned, as is the viability of live game show experiences in Las Vegas.  The Real Deal! will keep guests laughing and give them the unique chance to get into the heads of the world’s best pros as they share tips and strategy throughout the fast-paced game. We know it will quickly become a hot ticket.”

Casting is underway for the show host, and the producers are talking with well-known comedians who they feel will bring an energized blend of humor and poker information to the audience while keeping the action moving. The chance to take on poker’s superstars without having to risk big money is more than enough to drive interest, but The Real Deal! goes far beyond the action on the stage, appealing to both poker aficionados and those who have never thrown a chip in a pot.

Participating audience members will play along during the on-stage game with a wireless handheld console. The large collection of prizes will be awarded to individuals based on their game performance, such as their play of the virtual “ninth hand.” However, there will be many other random winning moments! For example, audience members will be able to wager on simple instances that will occur during play, such as the suit of cards dealt on the flop. Every show, audience members will also have the chance to draw for a Royal Flush and win ONE MILLION DOLLARS.

An elimination process will result in the chip-leading pro, the final surviving amateur, and the point leader from the play-along audience, on stage for a three-handed finale.

The creation and production of groundbreaking entertainment is nothing new to Adelson and the members of the production team. Adelson, co-founder of Lorimar Telepictures and former vice chairman of Time Warner, Inc., put together an elite team headed by executive producer Gary Smith, an eight-time Emmy® Award winning producer and director of esteemed live shows including the Tony Awards and The Emmy® Awards, Producer Bill Nuss, who has written and produced over 300 hours of network primetime television, Chief Operating Officer Gary Adelson, a veteran Hollywood deal maker and producer, and Erick Brownstein, a highly regarded creative strategist and new media marketer, as Director of Technology.

Ace of Hearts: Expert Tips for Creating the Ultimate Romantic Vegas Getaway

World-class sommeliers. Culinary gurus. Luxury rides. High end shopping. First class spas. Jewels, glitz, glamour. It's Vegas, baby! Las Vegas has transformed itself into a region abundant with romantic sights, sounds and services to entice couples seeking the extraordinary.

Having reached the pinnacle among the world's leading jet-set destinations, today's luxury Las Vegas is replete with lavish goods, services and amenities that transcend bachelor parties and conventions. Indeed, this "Jewel of the Desert" now offers romance-seeking couples the opportunity to live like royalty as they experience the pampering, flair and retro-elegance that sets the twinkling town apart from anywhere else in the world.

With this in mind, here is the  Striker VIP Vegas Insider's "Top 10 Guide to the Ultimate Romantic Getaway"

1. Well-Traveled

From private Lear jets in and out of McCarran International Airport, well-stocked limousines, stretch Hummer transports, and exotic Ferrari and Lamborghini rentals for cruising the infamous Strip to helicopter sky tours, getting into, out of and around Vegas can be a romantic endeavor unto itself. You've got to do it - make it count!

2. Tours for Two

Take your love to new heights with a romantic tour of Vegas Strip from a different perspective:  by helicopter. Soar through the sky with a bottle of champagne and chocolate dipped strawberries or an aged cognac nightcap. Take advantage of daylight hours and charter a private helicopter for an unforgettable tour of the Grand Canyon where you can take in the spectacular landscape while dining on an elegant lunch of champagne and imported caviar.

Heights not your thing? Go for a gondola ride down the Venetian's Grand Canal, slowly drifting under bridges and passing cafes and shops as your gondolier serenades the both of you.

3. Food Makes the Heart Grow Fonder

What's a romantic evening without fine dining? Take in the incredible view, ambiance and world-class French cuisine at Paris‚ Eiffel Tower restaurant where you can also watch Bellagio's dancing fountains. Arrange a personal visit to your table from the head chef to make your partner feel extra special.

The Foundation Room, located high atop the Mandalay Bay, has an eclectic fine-dining atmosphere that can really set the mood. The main dining room contains original paneling from the Kellogg Family estate with dimly lit antique chandeliers that reflect the ornate gold leaf ceiling. The roof-top patio provides outside dining with a phenomenal view of the Strip where the lights are sure to sparkle in each other‚s eyes.

Consider spending one evening "dining in" and have a movable feast in the comfort and privacy of your own suite where a culinary master can create a personalized romantic meal for two. Go that extra mile to set the mood with a private violinist, pianist, or classical guitar player who will entertain you both during your dinner à deux.

4. Priority Pampering

There‚s nothing like a personalized spa experience to make someone feel loved and appreciated.

Whether it's at a five-star facility or within the privacy of your own suite, Vegas takes this notion to an artistic extreme. Arrange for your partner to visit an incredible on-site oasis like the Mandalay Bay Hotel Spa where personalized treatment menus tempt with exotic massage techniques, lavish body wraps, facials by world-class aestheticians, make-up and hair artistry, and Pilates and Yoga sessions with renowned gurus. Indeed, Las Vegas boasts an array of world-class spas ready, willing, and able to cater to your partner's every whim, relaxing every muscle in his or her body.

5. Those Who Shop Together Stay Together

When in doubt about how to add some fun to your romantic getaway, a shopping expedition together is sure to evoke more than a few smiles. Hold hands as you stroll through the Venetian's Grand Canal Shops, the arcade at the Bellagio, or the Caesar Forum‚s shops. Splurge at Ted Baker in the Caesars Forum II Mall where you can enlist the help of a private shopper and recreate a "Pretty Woman" moment of your own.

Of course, nothing ignites love and appreciation quite like a bauble or three. Do more than window shop at the city'‚s premier jewelers, including Harry Winston, Graff, DeBeers, Tiffany, and Cartier. Call ahead and they‚ll greet the love of your life with champagne, chocolates and whatever else suits for a truly decadent jewelry shopping experience.

6. Hearts Aflutter

Who says romance has to be all soft music and dim lighting? For the sports fanatic, love involves adventure and a good dose of heart-pumping adrenaline. Take ATVs out for a desert trek or try a Red Rock hiking tour. Have a private car or helicopter whisk you off to a day of professional NASCAR auto racing or connect with your inner ace by commandeering jets for a mock dog fight. For the ultimate heart-pounding experience for two, try tandem sky diving.

7. Paint the Town Red

The Playboy Club combines the relaxed atmosphere of a plush leather and reptile-skin sofa, chair and settee-filled lounge with an exclusive live gaming pit replete with Playboy Bunny dealers. Or, you could ascend to the 53rd floor of the Palms Hotel's Fantasy Tower and experience the dramatic, surreal environment of Moon. For discerning couples, this is the place for mind-blowing views complete with a retractable video roof! Ivan Kane's Forty Deuce at Mandalay Bay has the look, feel and sounds of a 1940s club with leather sofas, mood lighting, and authentic and tastefully delivered burlesque performed to the sounds of an amazing three-piece band on a revolving stage.

8. Show Your Love

Take one part Moulin Rouge, add a dash of Broadway, and combine with powerhouse performers. In Vegas, the entire world becomes your stage. Surprise your partner with front and center seats at Celine Dion or Elton John at a specially constructed auditorium in Caesar's Palace that replicates the Coliseum in Rome. Celebrate the musical legacy of The Beatles in the new show LOVE, staged by Cirque du Soleil at The Mirage Hotel. For an edge-of-your-seat experience, see Cirque du Soleil's $200 million production KA, at the MGM. From there, take in some of the nation's leading theater productions, including Phantom of the Opera, Spamalot, Mama Mia, and The Producers.

9. Sidewalk Stoppers

The Bellagio's dramatic light and sound fountain display is a 'must see' for any romantic Vegas excursion. The unique sidewalk spectacular features dancing water fountains synchronized with the greatest love songs and arias of our time. The volcano eruption at the Mirage Hotel is another Vegas staple worth stopping for as you leisurely stroll along the boulevard arm and arm.

10. The Suite Life

Even in Vegas, sometimes the best plan of all is a quite, intimate evening. With world-class luxury suites available throughout the town, hanging up the 'Do Not Disturb' sign is ever-so-tempting. The Bellagio features suites that overlook a scenic lake. The Tower Suites, which operate as a luxury boutique hotel within the Wynn Las Vegas, is the first in town to earn Mobil Travel Guide's five star rating. The Tower Suites offer exclusive, white-glove service and accommodations that feel like luxurious private residences. The Tower Suites also have their own private restaurant, Tableau, and a private pool to serve only the Tower Suite clientele. Enjoy the 'suite life' with a gourmet champagne brunch, chef-prepared dinner or couple‚s massage.

Outdoor Adventure...VIP Style-- For Guys

For fun-loving guys with bankroll to spare, all roads lead to Vegas. Besides the normal drunken nightlife debauchery guys indubitably engage in when visiting Sin City, trips into the region "can" transcend the obligatory strip clubs and casinos for some fun under the desert sun. This according to Steven Striker, founder and CEO of five-star Vegas concierge service Striker VIP, Inc., who notes, "Groups of guys seeking unforgettable Las Vegas experiences should not underestimate daylight hours, as Vegas days can be equally exciting as Vegas nights."

With this in mind, here are Striker's top picks for outdoor Vegas VIP adventure:

Become an Ace! The crème de la crème of guy-group tours is the Top-Gun fighter pilot excursion. For one incredible hour, you're Tom Cruise taking flight in a L39 fighter jet over Las Vegas. You and your buddies actually have a dog fight 35,000 feet over the Las Vegas desert - an experience that is filmed for posterity! You can edit the footage yourself, or have the video professionally edited into a short movie, complete with a soundtrack.

Hey hot shot - wanna be Dirty Harry for the day? Fire machine guns and exotic hand guns including the Dirty Harry 44 Magnum at the Las Vegas Gun Range, and hold a competition against your buddies to see who has the sharpest eagle eye. At the end of the day, the winner gets to "Shoot-a-T-shirt" full of holes with your favorite machine gun and then take it home for a keepsake as a memory of the wild weekend.

NASCAR racing at the Las Vegas Speedway - drive the same cars as Jeff Gordon!
Drive an authentic, Nextel Cup car on the same superspeedways the pros race on. You can drive actual race-driven Nextel Cup cars that have previously been commandeered by NASCAR favorites including 4-time NASCAR champion Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Michael Waltrip, Matt Kenseth and others. This is as close as you might ever get to driving in the Nextel Cup Series!

Wanna really turn heads? - Drive an exotic ride down the Vegas Strip and beyond. This is the ultimate experience for ten guys or less. Everyone gets their chance to drive behind the wheel in all five of these luxury exotic rides: Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Corvette and Viper. During this six-hour excursion, each guy gets an opportunity to take turns cruising each car down the Las Vegas Strip through the Red Rock Mountains to Lake Las Vegas and back.

White Water rafting in the Grand Canyon.- Want some serious action? Then you're ready for some white water rafting Grand Canyon style. You and your posse will climb aboard an 8-passenger whitewater river raft with a Hualapai Indian rafting guide and begin carving your way through spectacular canyons of solid rock.

Skydiving over the Las Vegas desert. Skydiving in the Vegas desert with state of the art equipment and professional instructors can be a once-in-a-lifetime experience of its own. With approximately 45 minutes of instruction at the onset, you and the guys will be more than ready to "take the plunge!"

SKYWALK over Grand Canyon. Take a helicopter stocked with party food and beverages to the Grand Canyon where you and your buddies can walk out over the newly constructed SKYWALK - a free standing extension jutting out of the face of the canyon. Then dare someone to walk out to the end and stare down through the glass floor into the 4,000-foot chasm!

ATVs across the Las Vegas desert. Here's something the guys will really enjoy - four hours of extreme ATV off-roading adventure. You'll be escorted via motor coach from Las Vegas to the staging area in Jean, Nevada (only 30-minutes from the Las Vegas Strip), where your personal ATV adventure begins. Drive ATVs across the desert, race your friends and have much deserved lunch.

For over a decade, Striker VIP has cultivated unforgettable Las Vegas experiences for a long list of who's who celebrities and sports icons, including the likes of Jerry Rice, Terrell Owens, Matt Lauer, Mick Fleetwood, Mark Steines, David Justice, Tom Sizemore, Amani Toomer and Ahman Green, as well as a litany of "A" list individuals and corporate customers. Beyond well-known personalities and affluent luxury lifestyle consumers, Striker VIP's client list also boasts an array of Fortune 500, 1000 and other key players across multiple industries. And, Striker has smoked with the best of them.

MIRAGE NEWS

Inspired by the spirit of The Beatles and created by Cirque du Soleil, The Beatles Revolution Lounge opened in December at The Mirage. Opening its doors only six months after the high-profile launch of The Beatles Love, Revolution will offer an extended experience before and after the show.

Follow your amazing dining experience with a cognac and hand-rolled cigar night cap.

Designers DeLuxe

Fashioning itself after such designer destinations as New York, Paris, and Milan, Las Vegas has all the elite designers ˆ Versace, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Fendi, Chanel, Prada, and Tiffany & Co. Dress like the stars of the HBO hit series, Entourage, with a personal outfitting by London "fashionisto" Ted Baker at his boutique in the new palatial Forum Shops II at Caesar's Palace. With the right amount of "pull," these stores will open after hours just so you can shop while assisted by your own personal shopper, without having to fight for elbow room. For that personalized touch, opt for a private fashion show. A tailor can even custom fit a suit or dress in your suite that will be personally delivered to you less than 24-hours later.

Entertainment with a Twist

Looking for some night life without the rap, hip hop, or techno? Las Vegas has a number of clubs and lounges that have recaptured the flavor of the city's golden era, but with a modern twist. With beautiful women lounging in rose petal baths, Tao at the Venetian offers a Zen-like vibe. A 90-foot waterfall that ends in a secluded lagoon and intimate seating areas, make Tryst at the Wynn the spot for a romantic rendezvous. The House of Blues‚ Foundation Room at Mandalay Bay infuses your nightlife with a little spirituality with an eclectic blend of imported fixtures, furniture, and rugs from Tibetan monasteries, with a cool cigar lounge and awe-inspiring views of the Strip.

If you would like a burlesque with your nightclub, stop by Ivan Kane's Forty Deuce at Mandalay Bay. It has the look, feel and sounds of a 1940s club with club leather sofas, mood lighting, and authentic and tastefully delivered burlesque performed to the sounds of an amazing three-piece band on a revolving stage. A bevy of beauties perform nightly at the Pussycat Doll lounge in Caesar's Palace next to the trendy Pure Nightclub. For a heavenly experience, stop by Aureole at Mandalay Bay for a glass of wine delivered to you by a wine angel suspended on wires who delivers the bottle of your choice from a four-story wine tower. Escape the Vegas heat by hitting the Ice Bar at Red Square and select from over 200 types of vodka. From mixing it up on the dance floor to "owning" the prime seating at your location of choice (that super-exclusive VIP enclave everyone at the location covets), the nightlife in Las Vegas will take you straight through to breakfast in style.

Show Stoppers

Take one part Moulin Rouge, add a dash of Broadway, and combine with powerhouse performers. In Vegas, the entire world becomes your stage. Enjoy front and center seats at Celine Dion or Elton John at a specially constructed auditorium in Caesar's Palace that replicates the Coliseum in Rome. Celebrate the musical legacy of The Beatles in the new show LOVE, staged by Cirque du Soleil at The Mirage Hotel. For an edge-of-your-seat experience, see Cirque du Soleil‚s $200 million production KA, at the MGM. Because You Deserve It

Unlike other travel destinations, the best of what Vegas has to offer quickly sells out ˆ often months in advance. In a town built on connections, it's not what you know, but who you know. Individuals should seek out a five-star host, concierge, or event services provider who will make them feel like royalty. Such high-class services can intensify the "wow" factor and offer a level of exclusivity that removes you from the "rest" of the crowd. It also means being treated in "old school" Vegas style where all you have to do is ask and a hand shake or pat on the back means it's as good as done.

Your stay in Las Vegas can be among the most spectacular, memorable and hassle-free luxury travel experiences of your life.

LOVELOCK

LOVELOCK – A UNIQUE DESTINATION FOR LOVERS -- Love Remains Locked in Rural Town

Lovers can celebrate an anniversary of a different sort…but one that is no less romantic than their own. The city of Lovelock, Nev., located 103 miles east of Reno on Interstate 80, is celebrating the second anniversary of Lovers Lock Plaza, a one-of-a-kind attraction where lovers can fasten a lock to a never-ending chain to symbolize their everlasting love. Since its inception, lovers from around the country and even across the globe have come to Lovelock to lock their love forever, joining part of an age old Chinese custom revised into Nevada tradition.

“As the nation’s only love-locking destination, Lovelock has seen an increase in visitors coming to the small town over the last two years with the primary purpose of locking their love for eternity,” said Kirsten Hertz, operations manager for the Greater Pershing Partnership. “Viewed as the perfect romantic gesture, couples have even planned destination weddings in Lovelock, first tying the knot then locking their love.”

Lovelock’s “Lock Your Love” tradition is borrowed from China, where for decades, lovers place a lock upon an “endless chain” along the Great Wall in the Yellow Mountains and elsewhere. The love locking tradition is also alive in Italy, with lovers affixing locks to the Ponte Vecchio and Ponte Milvio and throwing the keys into the Arno and Tiber rivers.

“Lovelock has adopted this unique tradition and really made it its own,” notes Hertz. “Here, once a couple locks their love on the chain they often throw away the key, thus locking their love, and souls, forever. Some couples choose to keep their keys as a way to cherish their commitment. It really is a romantic and fun gesture for couples looking to express their admiration in a new and unique way.”

Adjacent to the Pershing County Courthouse, Lovers Lock Plaza features a series of green posts connected by chains and lovers’ locks. The peaceful location in the heart of town is easily accessible several blocks north of the interstate exit. Businesses in the community support the tradition by selling locks that can also be engraved locally with lovers’ names or a special message. Lovers are encouraged to bring their own locks as a way to personalize the experience.

The town of Lovelock also has several chapels and churches for wedding ceremonies, along with numerous lodging options and various attractions and amenities to enjoy during the first hours or days of wedded bliss.

For more information on Lovelock, Nevada, and the Lovers Lock Plaza, contact the Greater Pershing Partnership at 775-273-7213 or visit www.loverslock.com.

The city of Lovelock is located off Interstate 80 in central Nevada and serves as the gateway to “Nevada’s Cowboy Country.” With a population of just over 2,300, the town is home to numerous historical sites and unique locations including Lovers Lock Plaza, the nation’s only love-locking destination. Lovelock also serves as a base camp for adventure and activities including fishing, hunting, boating, hiking and geo-caching.
