Winter in Northern Nevada is in full swing and Carson Valley offers a snow-friendly destination that won’t break the bank. Cozy, seasonal, adventurous, and relaxing the four communities of Carson Valley have something for the winter-lover in your family.
About Carson Valley:
Nestled at the base of the Sierra, Carson Valley begs visitors to not just drive through it, but to it. Located 45 miles south of Reno-Tahoe International Airport and 12 miles east of South Lake Tahoe, the region’s natural beauty is legendary: wide-open farms, ranches, bands of wild horses and birds of prey dot the landscape. Outdoor recreation enthusiasts follow all points of the compass with more than 50+ miles of hiking, mountain biking or walking trails along with world class road biking. The valley’s museums, arts, antiquing, Basque dining, historic watering holes and more add to the destination's authentic culture. The region includes the communities of Minden, Gardnerville, Topaz Lake and Genoa, Nevada’s first settlement dating back to 1851. Explore the land of everyday legends at VisitCarsonValley.org.
Easy to find, hard to forget
Carson Valley is situated 45 minutes south of the Reno International Airport, 20 minutes east of Lake Tahoe and just over 200 miles from San Francisco. While Carson Valley is easy to find and close to the winter action of South Lake Tahoe, the region provides miles of secluded space and an opportunity to unplug into an American West atmosphere. Mountains to the east and west bookend awe-inspiring valley views, scattered with sprawling ranches, rivers, lakes, and historic towns. Getting around is easy with pleasant weather and sheltered by the Eastern Sierra Nevada.
Maximum powder, minimal crowds
Carson Valley is only 12 miles east of South Lake Tahoe ski resorts and 15 minutes from miles of wide open back country to the south and west. A stay in Carson Valley puts world-class skiing, snowboarding, backcountry touring, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing at your doorstep without the flurry of resort accommodations. Heavenly Mountain Resort, Carson Valley’s nearest ski resort, offers famous Lake Tahoe views and all-level varied terrain that spans the Nevada-California border. Just a little further away is Kirkwood Mountain Resort, serving up dry snow and challenging terrain for adventurous skiers and snowboarders. For a backcountry or snow-play experience, Carson Valley visitors can head to Hope Valley and Picketts Junction. Hope Valley Outdoors is a sustainable, off-the-grid yurt providing cross-country skiing, backcountry skiing, snowshoeing, rentals, lessons, and guided tours. For easy family snow fun, visitors can sled, tube, and snow hike near Picketts Junction, CA. Best of all, winter 2018/2019 is off to a snowy start as December storms have dropped several feet of snow in the mountain elevations.
Wind down and fuel up after the lifts stop turning
After a snowy adventure, the region of Carson Valley offers après, dining, and hot spring stops to warm the soul sans crowds. Visitors can recharge with delicious coffee drinks at The Pink House, where history reigns. Après in authentic old west style at the Genoa Bar, Nevada’s oldest thirst parlor. Relax tired legs and enjoy picture-perfect views in the natural hot springs at Grover Hot Springs State Park. When visitors seek to refuel on homemade food, daily options can be found at family operated Minden Meat and Deli as well as the delectable Abby Jo’s Café Girasole.
Less is more
When the legs are ready for a break or you’re looking for activities that are a bit friendlier on the wallet, visitors can settle into the pace, character, and history of Carson Valley. The region’s antique shops invite visitors to linger as they search through one-of-a-kind finds. Guests can embark on historical adventures with the likes of Pony Express riders and western settlers at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Site and the Mormon Station State Historic Park. The young and young-alike can witness the “neat” in nature with frequent wildlife spottings of horses, raptors, water fowl, turtles, lynx, and more.
Stay in the company of peaks, creeks, and desert skies
Carson Valley accommodations are ideal for individuals and families seeking a crowd-free rest that won’t break the bank. Both the Carson Valley Inn and the Holiday Inn Express and Suites Minden boast relaxing hot tubs and refreshing room rates starting at $89 mid-week.

The Ritz-Carlton Spa at The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Las Vegas has unveiled a brand new spa treatment menu.
In addition to many of the previous traditional spa treatments, The Ritz-Carlton Spa features 13 new treatments geared toward specific needs and guest demographics. All treatments and changes are based on guest feedback.
Highlights of the new menu include:
Men's Treatments: Interest in male guests is beginning to increase since the spa debuted its now-popular Gentlemen's Pedicure and Beer Tasting treatment, which includes a luxurious pedicure and five to six beer samples. Parlaying off of that popularity, the spa developed additional treatments, especially for men:
-Gentlemen's Fitness Facial: A mask made of seaweed contains minerals that stimulate, nourish, tone and eliminate toxins from the skin. Includes a tension-relieving scalp, neck and shoulder massage with acupressure that stimulates scalp circulation and follicle health.
-Gentlemen's Hand or Foot Grooming: These energizing treatments include the grooming of nails and cuticles, a moisturizing massage and a natural buff. The foot grooming also includes a eucalyptus soak, callous removal and a revitalizing exfoliation.
-Executive Facial: Along with a mild skin resurfacing, a refreshing multi-vitamin and antioxidant mask is applied to increase skin firmness and vitality. A relaxing face, neck and shoulder massage is included.
-Executive Hand or Foot Grooming: For the gentlemen who need extra tension relief, these guests will also receive an extra moisturizing masque.
Muscle Repair Treatments: Sports enthusiasts will enjoy the treatments designed to heal the body after a work-out or training:
-Muscle Repair Massage: Promotes circulation and relieves sore muscles. Arnica acts as a strong anti-inflammatory and is blended with warming bay laurel, rosemary and basil to ease muscle congestion.
-Hand and Foot Rejuvenation: With this technique, hands are immersed in hot paraffin wax to soothe aches and pains while feet are enlivened with a peppermint tea tree massage.
Indigenous Ingredients: Staying true to the Southern Nevada environment, the spa developed treatments that include ingredients that primarily originate in this region.
-Prickly Pear Couple's Ritual: Prickly Pear Cactus is a natural skin smoother and a rich source of antioxidants and Vitamin C. This ritual begins with a gentle body polish to remove surface layers of dull skin cells. Next, the guest is submerged in a bath. The final step is a full-body massage using a prickly pear shea butter.
-Desert Aloe Veil: For those overexposed to the elements, a combination of soothing aloe and cooling tea tree is gently applied to the body. Session includes a gentle scalp or foot massage.
During classic spa treatments, such as the Desert Rain Vichy Exfoliation, prior to the treatment guests can select a scent, one of which now includes pomegranate.
In addition to the aforementioned treatments, the spa will also be launching the following:
-Pure Facial: Dramatically reduces congested pores and promotes clearer skin by regulating oil production. A thorough cleansing is carried out over the face and décolleté.
-Aroma Transformation Facial: Five effective treatments in one: a deep cleansing enzyme mask; genuine aromatherapy chosen specifically for the guest's mood and complexion; a relaxing and rejuvenating 12 acu-point massage and a specific firming and renewing eye and hand treatment for these often neglected areas.
-Chardonnay Couple's Ceremony: This commences with a chardonnay sugar exfoliation, followed by an intimate soak in our jetted tub. A full-body massage with body butter made with grape seed, lavender, rosemary, chamomile and jojoba finishes this journey.
-Sacred Stone Manicure or Pedicure: Enjoy an affirming masque and a comforting hot-towel wrap, as well as a healing hot stone therapy massage.
-Alpha Beta Body Peel: The entire body is saturated with a perfect combination of alpha and beta hydroxyl acids. Following this, the body is infused with luxurious hydration.
New Packages: The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Las Vegas now offers a bevy of spa packages, designed for guests seeking numerous treatments for one price:
-Oasis: The 50-minute massage or facial is based on the guest's specific needs. The package also includes the Oasis Manicure that includes nail shaping, cuticle perfection, a moisturizing massage and a choice of a natural buff or fresh polish and the Oasis Pedicure.

The Ritz-Carlon, Lake Las Vegas, Displays New Pieces of Art . . Made from Sugar
Imagine feasting your eyes upon beautiful, hand-crafted pieces of what appears to be glass art with colors reflecting the season, with these same pieces beautifully displayed in glass displays and lit to show the intricate details. But for guests at The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Las Vegas, when they look a little closer at the front lobby’s brand new art pieces, they will discover the pieces are actually made entirely from sugar.
Executive Pastry Chef Chris Hanmer designed and created two identical displays entitled, “An Unexpected Oasis” that are showcased in two separate wood and glass cases located in the hotel’s front lobby. Each showcases 45 orange and blue pieces created from 150 pounds of sugar. The entire project took Chef Hanmer more than 100 hours to craft by hand, using food coloring for the orange and blue hues.
Hanmer began planning this project in October 2006, completing the sugar display creations in February. “When I lived in Washington, D.C., I often visited the Smithsonian Institute. There I discovered a true appreciation of modern art which became my inspiration for developing these pieces. Because I am a chef, it was the ideal way to combine my two passions cooking and modern art,” says Hanmer.
The sugar displays will change every season.
Hanmer is the executive pastry chef for The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Las Vegas. He has nearly 15 years of experience in the culinary industry. He competed in the World Pastry Team Championship in 2004, which was televised on the Food Network. At the age of 26, he became the youngest American to win this championship. Prior to joining The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Las Vegas in 2005, he served as assistant pastry chef for Bellagio in Las Vegas. He has also worked at the International School of Confectionary Arts in Gaithersburg, Md., where he participated in national and global demonstrations with famed confectioner Ewald Notter.
Hanmer’s educational background includes a certificate in culinary arts from Orange Coast College, in Costa Mesa, Calif. and advanced culinary studies in France at L’ Ecole Du Grand Chocolat.

In recognition of the 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act, the National Park Service has designated a new Explore by Houseboat Wilderness Trail in Lake Mead National Recreation Area so visitors can explore the wilderness by waterwhile enjoying all the comforts of home.
The Explore by Houseboat trail is one of six new self-guided exploration maps the Lake Mead NRA launched this week. Lake Mead is home to nine wilderness areas, all located in Nevada. They were designated in 2002 to preserve the undeveloped land, so each one retains its primitive character and influence. Part of that designation means that motorized vehicles and bicycles aren’t allowed in the wilderness areas. Fortunately for enthusiasts who appreciate nature and a good four-wheel drive experience or the comforts of home, most of Lake Mead NRA’s wilderness areas are bordered by roads and waterways where the restrictions don’t apply.
Houseboats offer comfortable sleeping accommodations for the whole family, plus amenities like gas grill, fully functional kitchen, bathrooms, water slide, satellite TVs, and sun deck. Houseboat rentals are available at Forever Resorts’ Callville Bay Resort and Marina on expansive Lake Mead, and at Cottonwood Cove Resort and Marina on spectacular Lake Mohave. Cruise across the aqua blue lakes, explore the preserved lands, then pull up to a cove and take a day trip into the peaceful backcountry.
Lake Mead is a perfect place for houseboating any time of the year. Many water activities are enjoyed on Lake Mead swimming, diving, boating and fishing. With 550 miles of pristine shoreline, soaring red rock cliffs, countless bays and beaches and a convenient location within an hour of the entertainment capital of the world, few places can beat the recreation opportunities that await on Lake Mead. Those traveling east from Callville Bay through the narrows will pass Pinto Valley and Jimbilnan Wilderness, areas popular for stunning sandstone and volcanic rock formations.
One of the best-kept secrets in Nevada, Lake Mohave is a pristine desert lake that boasts a 237-mile shoreline and is 67 miles long. Backed by Davis Dam on the Colorado River, Lake Mohave provides its guests the best in boating, fishing, and hiking. The new marina offers long-term and overnight slip rentals for your boat or rent a houseboat, power boat, canoe or kayak. Travel north to see Ireteba and Eldorado Wilderness, areas popular for Desert Bighorn Sheep; or, head south to see Spirit Mountain Wilderness, the spiritual birthplace of the Yuman tribes of the lower Colorado River.

For the second consecutive year, Lake Tahoe was named the number one ski destination by Orbitz.com based on hotel room and vacation package bookings.

The Neon Museum
Founded in 1996, the Neon Museum is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to collecting, preserving, studying and exhibiting iconic Las Vegas signs for educational, historic and cultural enrichment. In addition to an approximately two-acre Neon Museum campus, which includes the outdoor exhibition space known as the Neon Boneyard, the museum also encompasses a visitors’ center housed inside the former La Concha Motel lobby as well as nine restored signs installed as public art throughout downtown Las Vegas. Public education, outreach, research, archival preservation and a grant-funded neon sign survey represent a selection of the museum’s ongoing projects. Both the Neon Boneyard and the La Concha Visitors’ Center are located at 770 Las Vegas Blvd. North in Las Vegas. For more information, visit www.NeonMuseum.org.
Thrill riders will love the new zip-line over Fremont Street that has a special propulsion system to help riders attain speeds of about 35 mph. It will open in mid 2013, will cost $11 million, with a take-off tower 11 stories high; with openings in a giant slot machine spitting out riders like jackpots! Riders will fly flat in harnesses for 1700 feet, with a shorter option for those who are more timid. In the meantime, Flightlinez will be moved to allow for construction while continuing to take guests on more leisurely rides.
While downtown, you'll find many stand-alone cocktail bars - with the newest a 6,000-square-foot place named Commonwealth which opened on Fremont Street and includes a speakeasy-style back room bar.
Red Rock Canyon
A scenic drive through Red Rock Canyon is not to be forgotten -- for over the 13 miles, you'll enjoy spectacular scenery. Here, you'll find spectacular sandstone escarpment, thickets of Joshua trees, animals and plants in the nearly 200,000-acre national conservation area. During springtime, plants put on a gorgeous flowering show and provide lasting sources of water, food and shelter to the birds, reptiles and mammals that make the southern Mojave Desert their home. Learn about the cultural and historic uses of Red Rock Canyon before its special designation as a Bureau of Land Management National Conservation Area.
Pack a picnic lunch, get into your car, and upon arriving, drive the posted speed limits. Stop at one of the many parking lots but, do not park off the road on vegetation since these plants are native to the arid Mojave Dessert and can take decades to regrow.
There's lots to see & do here, including:
With more than 2,000 climbing routes, Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is one of the top five climbing destinations in the United States. -- There are two wilderness areas in the conservation area Rainbow Mountain Wilderness and La Madre Mountain Wilderness. New, bolted, fixed anchors and/or protection belts cannot be installed in either wilderness area. All of the major canyons in Red Rock Canyon are in the Rainbow Mountain Wilderness and all of the climbing routes located on White Rock Moiuntain and many crags near Kraft Mountain are within the La Madre Mountain Wilderness.
Be aware that the sandstone becomes very brittle when it rains and shouldn't be climbed for at least 24 hours. Once it dries out, the hand and footholds will not be broken and gear will be less likely to pull out during a fall. If it rains during your visit, consider the limestone sport crags that are found in Red Rock and other climbing sites around Las Vegas.
Permits are necessary and Late Exit permits (LE) provide an additional two hours of climbing time after normal closure of the scenic drive. They are for multi-pitch routes and are only available for Angel Food Wall, Ice Box Canyon, Juniper Canyon, Pine Creek Canyon and oak Creek Canyon. Overnight permits (ON) are only available for routes on Mt. Wilson (1-2 nights), Levitation Wall (1 night), Rainbow Wall (1-2 nights), Buffalo Wall (1-3 nights), Hidden Wall (1-3 nights) and Bridge Mountain (1 night). Camping is not permitted at the base of any route.
To obtain a permit call 702-515-5050. Call up to seven days in adance or as late as the day of your intended climb. Leave a clear message or you will not receive a permit and may receive a citation. Same-day permits are not issued after 4:30 p.m. When you call, state your name and phone #, type of permit needed, vehicle plate number and state, vehicle description, climbing route/wall and wher eyou will park, and an emergency contact number and name.
Millions of years are written on the sandstone cliffs and limestone outcrops -- revealing an area that was at the bottom of an ocean basin and its emergence from the sea when dinosaurs roamed the earth. See limestone outcrops that for more than 250 million years accumulated and contained the fossils of sea life that flourished during that time. Early-to mid-Paleozoic Era limestone is exposed on the escarpment on the west and north sides of the national conservation area. Later, Paleozoic Era Permian limestone outcrops can be seen on the east side, especially on Blue Diamond hill and its extension to the north, Fossil Ridge.
In the handout at the visitor center, you'll find more information on the geology formations, including the Aztec Sandstone Escarpment. The sandstone cliffs at Red Rock, thousands of feet high, are made up of Aztec sandstone. This formation is about 180 million years old, and represents lithified sand dunes that formed in a vast desert that covered a large part of the southwestern U.S. during Jurassic time. The sand slowly changed into sandstone as subsurface water percolated through the sediments and deposited cements of iron oxide and calcium carbonate in the pore spaces between the grains. Slowly, these sandstone rocks were uplifted thousands of feet to their present elevation and exposed to weathering and erosion.
The colorful sandstone is eye-catching, especially the red color which shows the presence of iron oxide. Exposed to the elementsl, some of the iron minerals oxidized or rusted - so now you can witness red, orange and brown rocks here.
Tracks confirmed by footprints made 180 to 190 million years ago in sandstone has proven that dinosaurs did roam here. And, Rafael Rivera, a Spanish scout, blazed what became known as the Spanish Trail and was most likely the first European to see the Las Vegas Valley. Spanish moved through this area in 1776, but Antonio Armijo led the first successful round trip trade caravan from Santa Fe to the Pueblo De Los Angeles in 1829.
Here, you'll also find the Kangaroo rat, Blacktail jackrabbit, Desert cottontail, wild horses and burros, and lots more -- including bats, reptiles, the Desert tortoise, snakes, lizards and the Common chuckwalla.
Safety Precautions While at Red Rock Canyon:
Watch where you put your hands and feet: Rattlesnakes, scorpions or venomous spiders may be sheltered behind boulders or under rocks and shrubs. Don't touch, collect or try to kill these creatures.
Water: Remember to bring at least one gallon of water per day if you plan on hiking and at least one extra gallon per person in your vehicle. If you forgot to bring water, it can be purchased at the visitor center - the only location where drinking water is available in the national conservation area. Temperatures in Red Rock Canyon can average more than 100 degrees F. during summer months, so drink plenty of water and limiting exposure in the sun during the hottest parts of the day. If you feel dizzy, nauseous or get a headache, get out of the sun immediately and drink plenty of water. Dampen your clothing to lower your body temperature.
Hiking: Select shoes that fit comfortably, with ankle stability and protection against cactus spines. Wear clothes that provide protection against the sun (hats, long sleeves, long pants, etc.) and apply sunscreen. When hiking, avoid canyons during rainstorms and be prepared to move to higher ground. While driving, be alert for water running in the normally dry desert washes and across road dips. Do not walk or drive through flood water flowing across a road.
Lightning -- Lightning storms frequently occur in the afternoon during the summer months. To prevent lightning from strikig you, avoid high places and seek cover in buildings or in vehicles with the windows rolled up. If caught outdoors, crouch down on both feet with your arms wrapped around your knees and wait out the storm.

Here you'll get up close to the actual wall from the St. Valentine's Day Massacre; listen to real FBI surveillance tapes on wiretapping equipment; see the barber chairt that mobster Albert Anastasia was murdered in, and participate in an FBI weapons training simulator, plus lots more.

Named one of the top 10 construction achievements of the 20th century, Hoover Dam continues to attract more than one million visitors per year nearly 70 after its creation. In 1930, construction began in Black Canyon, located minutes outside of Las Vegas. Despite its enormity and harsh desert conditions, the project was completed in less than five years instead of seven and well under budget. The dam is named after America’s 31st president, Herbert Hoover. Hoover Dam is the highest concrete dam in the Western hemisphere, standing at more than 725 feet above the Colorado River with 17 generators producing four billion kilowatts of electricity every year.
As for the Colorado River Bridge, it is the central portion of the Hoover Dam Bypass project that began Jan. 2005 and is expected to be completed at the end of 2010. The 2,000 foot long bridge is quite the engineering site. When completed, the bridge will span the Black Canyon, connecting Arizona and Nevada Approach highways and nearly 90 feet above the river.

This year marks the 51st anniversary for The Papillon Group (pronounced pah-pe-YOHN), the world’s largest and longest running helicopter tour company.
ELLING HALVORSON’S VISION
The company’s story began in 1965, thanks to the vision of Elling Halvorson. At that time, Halvorson owned a construction company specializing in remote area, high risk projects with challenging logistics. Halvorson took pride in mitigating risks through creativity and innovation. He was in the midst of a project to construct a microwave tower for AT&T atop the 9,400 foot Echo Summit in the Sierra Nevada Mountains when Halvorson purchased his first helicopter, a Bell 47-G3B1. This helicopter was used to carry workers and light construction materials more efficiently through the treacherous mountain terrain than the 1.5 mile tramway he had previously built.
The project that changed the course of Halvorson’s career involved constructing a 13.5-mile-long water pipeline from the North Rim to the South Rim of the rugged Grand Canyon. At that time, it was largest contract the National Park Service had ever awarded. Today, this project remains the largest helicopter-supported construction project ever completed in the United States with more than 25,000 flight hours. As Halvorson and his team flew colleagues and clients to work sites within the canyon, the majestic scenery was so captivating that workers began requesting chartered helicopter flights during off hours. Halvorson recognized the golden opportunity that lay in front of him and Papillon was born. The company would make history by becoming one of the first aerial sightseeing companies in the world and the first to fly the Grand Canyon.
“I don’t think there’s any one secret to success,” Elling Halvorson muses. “It is being able to see an opportunity and having the courage to act on it.” From the beginning, innovation has been one of Halvorson’s primary objectives. Shortly after forming in 1965, Halvorson acquired a fixed-wing company, Grand Canyon Airlines. The move added six Piper Cherokee 6 airplanes to the existing helicopter fleet. He was a pioneer in developing quiet technology for the helicopter tour industry and his innovation challenged the leading helicopter manufacturers to address the need for quiet aircraft. It was his vision that led to the building of Papillon’s renowned state of the art helicopter terminals and facilities located at Grand Canyon National Park Airport and later at the Las Vegas/Boulder City Municipal Airport.
He was a co-founder of the Tour Operators Program of Safety (TOPS) in 1986, whose members abide by strict, self-imposed regulations that go above and beyond Federal Aviation Administration standards for operational procedures, pilot training and aircraft maintenance. Furthermore, throughout the years, he has played active roles in numerous professional organizations including the Helicopter Association International (HAI), National Business Aircraft Association (NBAA); American Helicopter Society; National Parks Overflight Advisory Group (NPOAG), U.S. Travel Association and United States Air Tour Association (USATA). In January, he received the esteemed Vertical Flight Hall of Fame Award during the 12th Annual Living Legends of Aviation Awards.
THE COMPANY GROWS
By spring 1986, his daughter, Brenda Halvorson, joined the company. After growing up in the industry and around helicopters, the transition into Papillon was seamless, as it was always Halvorson’s goal to create a business that would stay within the family. She became President/CEO in 1993. During Brenda Halvorson’s more than 20 years as President/CEO of the Papillon Group, the companies have exponentially grown. Daily passengers have increased by 600 percent in the last two decades. The fleet of helicopters and airplanes has increased from 23 to 73 with the help of her brother's, Lon, expertise in financing. He also currently serves as executive vice president of The Papillon Group.
Over the years and under Brenda Halvorson's leadership, Papillon would continue to expand, forming partnerships with the Havasupai Nation, Hualapai Nation and Navajo Nations, as well as launching and increasing operations out of Grand Canyon National Park Airport at the South Rim, Grand Canyon West; McCarran International Airport; Boulder City Municipal Airport and Lake Powell/Page, Ariz. In addition, a utility division was formed to serve contracts with the U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Department of Interior, U.S. Bureau of Land Management, Arizona Game and Fish and many others.
The family continued to acquire multiple brands and companies including Kenai Helicopters; Air Grand Canyon; Scenic Airlines; Grand Canyon.com and Grand Canyon Coaches. In addition to expanding the company, she served as president of the Grand Canyon Chamber of Commerce and United States Travel Association; she received the Grand Canyon National Park Citizen of the Year and co-founded the first fire department in Tusayan, Ariz. She also continues to be active in TOPS and HAI.
Brenda Halvorson continues to be at the helm of the Papillon Group as the companies transition to a third generation. Her son, Geoff Edlund, joined the company as general manager of Nevada Helicopter Operations while her nephew, Jacob Tomlin, now serves as general manager of Nevada Fixed Wing Operations.
“Papillon’s 50th anniversary is a great source of pride for my family. Our legacy is our greatest asset moving forward,” says Brenda Halvorson. “Our goal is for Papillon to continue to grow through diversifying our tour experiences, being innovative within the aviation and tourism industries and protecting the environment as we remain on the forefront of advancing quiet technology.”

Pink Jeep Tours Launches Grand Canyon Class Deluxe Tour Featuring the West Rim's Berethtaking Quartermaster Point
Breathtaking seclusion allows one to take a moment from life to just appreciate and enjoy one of nature's majestic wonders... that is what awaits guests who embark upon Pink Jeep Tours' brand new Grand Canyon Classic Deluxe tour. The popular tour company is currently the only one to be granted access to Quartermaster Point, one of the most remote areas at Grand Canyon West.
Guests travel in the Tour Trekker, Pink Jeep Tours' brand new first of its kind, high-end and spacious sightseeing vehicle. The tour includes brief stops and photo opportunities at the historic Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, the desert community of Dolan Springs and the rugged Joshua Tree forest, then continues to the Grand Canyon's West Rim, home of the Hualapai nation.
"Quartermaster Point provides modern day spiritual significance for Hualapai people to enjoy the splendor and solitude of our homeland. Quartermaster is a peaceful experience with nature at its best," says Waylon Honga, chief operating officer, Grand Canyon Resort Corporation. Once at the West Rim, guests travel to awe-inspiring Quartermaster Point, an area named after O.G. Howland who served as Quartermaster in the Union Army under Major John Wesley Powell. The absence of handrails, fences or crowds makes Quartermaster Point a remote and panoramic viewpoint overlooking the magnificent Colorado River. Tour guides offer an optional 20-minute hike to another viewpoint with spectacular views of the canyon and the river few visitors ever experience.
"Taking customers to remote destinations and providing them with an escorted interpretive tour is our niche. Our custom Tour Trekkers were designed and built to leave the smallest carbon footprint possible," says Alix Reed, general manger, Pink Jeep Tours. "We feel very privileged to be entrusted in sharing the beauty and the history of this magnificent point."
Another highlight for the guest is views of the amazing Skywalk. Composed of glass and steel, the transparent walkway extends 70 feet beyond the rim with a nearly 4,000 foot drop below to the canyon floor. Pink Jeep Tours provides door-to-door service from most hotels. Pick up time is 7:30 a.m. The tour lasts approximately nine to 10 hours. The tour price is $224 per person, plus tax and gratuity and $32 for the Skywalk.

Pink Jeep Tours Has Become the First Independent Tour Company to Offer In-Park Service in Death Valley
In September 2009, Pink Jeep Tours became the first independent tour company to offer in-park service at Death Valley. These new tours allow guests to visit the remote areas of the park too difficult for most vehicles to access. This is made possible by Pink Jeep Tours' new Tour Trekker, the first-of-its-kind, high-end, state-of-the-art sightseeing vehicle. This comfortable 4-wheel drive vehicle has seating for up to 10 passengers so guests will truly enjoy this "small group" experience.
Hotel pick-up and drop-off is available from most park hotels, including the 4-diamond Furnace Creek Inn, the Furnace Creek Ranch and the popular Stovepipe Wells Village. Tours will originate and conclude inside the park. To make this possible, Pink Jeep Tours has partnered with Xanterra Parks and Resorts, the nation's largest park concessions management company and leader in park and resort hospitality. Xanterra oversees and manages most resort, dining and retail offerings at Death Valley.
Once inside the park, guests can visit secluded areas such as Racetrack Playa, famous for its "mysterious sliding rocks" that move across the dry lake bed on their own; Titus Canyon with its panoramic views at Red Pass and sheer towering walls in the canyon "narrows"; Charcoal kilns and Mosaic Canyon with its smooth, polished marble walls and West Side Road offering views of the valley most visitors rarely see. In addition, guests can also join Pink Jeep's classic Death Valley tour when it arrives from Las Vegas. This 2-hour segment visits Badwater Basin, Devil's Golf Course, Zabriskie Point and Artist's Palette.
Covering nearly 3.3 million acres, Death Valley is the largest National Park in the lower 48 contiguous states. Guests will enjoy the dramatic contrast between Telescope Peak (elev. 11,049 feet) and Badwater Basin (282 feet below sea level).
Tour prices range from $65 to $165. For more information, call Pink Jeep Tours at (702) 895-6777 or go to www.pinkjeep.com.

Everyone gets their chance to drive behind the wheel in all five of these luxury exotic rides: Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Corvette and Viper. White Water rafting in the Grand Canyon.- Want some serious action? Then you're ready for some white water rafting Grand Canyon style. You and your posse will climb aboard an 8-passenger whitewater river raft with a Hualapai Indian rafting guide and begin carving your way through spectacular canyons of solid rock.

Imagine Exhibitions, Inc. is presenting Da Vinci The Genius, the most comprehensive exploration of Leonardo da Vinci’s work ever created, for a limited engagement at The Venetian® in Las Vegas. The interactive experience will immerse guests in da Vinci’s timeless brilliance through full-scale interpretations of the mastermind’s inventions and unparalleled studies of his iconic art.
Da Vinci The Genius demonstrates the full scope of Leonardo Da Vinci’s remarkable genius as an inventor, artist, anatomist, sculptor, engineer, musician and architect. Guests will enjoy more than 200 unique pieces including 75 life-size machine inventions, three-dimensional renderings of da Vinci’s most notable Renaissance works and an eye-opening, in-depth analysis of his most famous piece, “Mona Lisa.” Visitors will be able to push, pull, crank and interact with many of these exhibits for a hands-on understanding of the scientific principles behind them.
Created with the assistance of Leonardo da Vinci experts in Italy and France, Da Vinci The Genius celebrates one of the most revered and dynamic minds of all time. The exhibition features 13 compelling themed areas of da Vinci’s work, offering visitors an unmatched look inside the mind of the man who laid the groundwork for some of modern society’s most impactful inventions, such as the helicopter, airplane, automobile, submarine, parachute and bicycle.
All of the inventions brought to life for Da Vinci The Genius were crafted by Italian Artisans, many using the same techniques and materials from the Renaissance period. Scouring more than 6,000 pages from da Vinci’s personal codices (notebooks), the Artisans deciphered hidden clues, intentional mistakes and mirror-image writing that da Vinci employed to keep his works top secret.
The most illustrious component of Da Vinci The Genius is arguably the Secrets of Mona Lisa exhibit, featuring the findings of French scientific engineer and examiner of fine art, Pascal Cotte. Granted unprecedented access to “Mona Lisa” by the French government and the Louvre Museum, Cotte was permitted to take “Mona Lisa” off the wall and out of its frame to conduct a scientific analysis that revealed dozens of secrets about history’s most elusive art piece, all verified and approved by the Louvre Museum curators over a two-year period. The exhibit showcases Cotte’s studies and 25 of his most compelling revelations, illustrated by 40 super-magnified, high-resolution sectional images exploring every aspect of the work.
“Da Vinci The Genius is the most complete and comprehensive da Vinci exhibition on the planet,” said John Caparella, president of The Venetian. “It’s a perfect complement to The Venetian’s summer-long Carnevale festival, and the emerging arts community in Las Vegas.”
Visitors of Da Vinci The Genius are invited to embrace the history, theory and objective behind each of da Vinci’s designs and artworks through engaging and entertaining technologies. Other highlights include reproductions of “Virgin of the Rocks,” “The Annunciation,” the controversial new Leonardo discovery “Bella Principessa,” amazing anatomical sketches, the preparatory drawings of the “Anghiari Battle,” and three-dimensional interactive presentations of “The Last Supper,” the “Vitruvian Man,” and the “Sforza Horse” sculpture that offer never-before-seen perspectives on these famous works. Guests also will enjoy a glimpse into da Vinci’s mysterious alphabet and writing techniques as they browse touch-screen versions of his actual codices.
The exhibition was developed by Grande Exhibitions, Australia, the Anthropos Association, Italy, under the kind auspices of the Commune di Roma, Commune di Firenze and Citta Di Venezia and with the assistance of Pascal Cotte of Lumière Technologies, France.
Tickets for Da Vinci The Genius will be available for purchase at The Venetian box office and venetian.com. Prices are as follows: adult ($25), senior/military ($23), Nevada residents ($20), children 12 and under ($18). Da Vinci The Genius will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

More than 4,000 custom-made simulated "sugarcanes" drop down from the ceiling and contain moving lights that wind through the tubes and rods. Internationally-acclaimed lighting designers Isometrix developed an innovative lighting program with theatrically-colored lights projecting through the dramatic sugarcane ceiling terrain. Glimpses are stolen back and forth between the main room and VIP area which is situated behind a barricade of broken-down walls and fencing behind the bar. The VIP area includes plush seating, mood lighting, global handicrafts and Brazilian Favela street finds.
Celebrated Brazilian graffiti artist Felipe Yung ("Flip") displays his talent with spray paint in various elements of SUGARCANE's décor. As one of Brazil's most influential street artists, Flip's work reflects urban culture and Japanese calligraphy. His signature characters, including "Flipitos" (little ones) and "Jagunços" (giants with small heads), are showcased throughout both SUSHISAMBA and SUGARCANE.
SUGARCANE is available for special events and occasions. The nightclub includes 174 seats in the main area and 20 seats in the VIP room.
SUGARCANE will play host to a number of special events and performances. On select nights, expect capoeira - a Brazilian dance that incorporates martial arts which gained popularity in the 16th century amongst sugarcane plantation workers; samba dancers; geishas; Japanese taiko drummers; models posing as Brazilian soccer players as they juggle soccer balls at the entrance; and SUGARCANE's in-house dancers. Resident DJ's spinning a blend of music genres ranging from house to Top 40 to Brazilian and Japanese pop will on occasion be accompanied by live bands.
The percussion-driven "SUGARBEATS" promotion will take place every Wednesday night, beginning in September and will feature an eclectic variety of DJs, music genres and rhythms in partnership with nightlife guru Marc Jay. Doors open at 10 p.m. Table reservations can be made in advance at firstname.lastname@example.org.
SUGARCANE serves SUSHISAMBA's impressive array of signature cocktails. To reflect the restaurant's Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian culinary roots, SUGARCANE's in-house mixologists offer cocktails made from fresh muddled fruits, juices and herbs. Out of 17 featured drinks, eight are exclusive to the Las Vegas menu.
Highlights on the menu include the Parisian Geisha (vodka, sake, mint and lemongrass), the Figo (Montecristo spiced wine, fig liquor, pear juice and lime) and the Bushido or "Soul of Japan" (shochu, plum sake, muddled plum and daikon beer float). New cocktails join SUSHISAMBA classics such as the national drink of Brazil, the Caipirinha, Peru's frothy and famed Pisco Sour and variations of Japanese Chu-His along with much more.
SUGARCANE's signature Cocktail Tree ($70) is a great way to experience many different drinks with groups both large and small. This festive collection showcases 12 different drinks (four samples of three different drinks), creatively positioned within the branches of a wrought-iron, sculptural "tree."
With one of the largest sake collections on the West Coast, SUGARCANE is one of the few nightlife venues to host sake bottle service. "You can order standard drinks anywhere," states Rubin. "SUGARCANE continues the tradition of SUSHISAMBA'S distinctive and fresh cocktail program."
SUGARCANE is open Thursday through Saturday from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. with no cover charge; industry night runs every Wednesday beginning at 10 p.m. The industry-standard dress code is enforced.

This boutique hotel-style delivers personalized service that has earned the AAA Four Diamond Award consecutively since 1977. A legendary icon on Fremont Street, the Golden Nugget offers a glimpse into vintage Vegas. I personally loved the new look of the luxurious, most opulent property, both inside and out, with $350 million in fantastic renovations and exciting additions. After seeing the suites, I knew I'd have to hire a contractor to make my own bedrooms and bathrooms as gorgeous!
2,345 rooms and suites in four majestic towers are offered; there is non-stop gaming in the casino, and food offered at seven distinct restaurants -- a classic Las Vegas buffet with hundreds of choices that I tried and found bountiful and delicious; Chart House seafood restaurant with a 75,000-gallon aquarium centerpiece; contemporary Lillie's Asian Cuisine with Teppanyaki tables; Vic & Anthony's steakhouse with an award-winning wine list; Grotto's hearty Italian trattoria; a red hot sushi bar and a casual 24-hour cafe.

It's truly a unique experience swimming with the sea creatures. After, choose a comfy chair and have a drink at the H2O bar or just sit back and rest at one of the private cabanas. There's a sauna, whirlpool and steam room, as well as pedicures, manicures, or hair treatment an option in the full service salon.

New D Las Vegas Hotel Debuts in Downtown Las Vegas & Delivers Fresh, Energetic Attitude and Fun Atmosphere
The former Fitzgeralds Casino & Hotel has completed its dramatic transformation to become the D Las Vegas, revealing a sleek new style, energetic attitude and fun atmosphere in the heart of downtown Las Vegas.
Located beneath the largest video screen in the world on Vegas’ famous Fremont Street Experience, the D sits at the center of four neon blocks of non-stop party action. The property’s complete interior and exterior renovation embraces the upbeat culture of downtown and invites guests to experience the modern amenities, first-class entertainment, fun culinary experiences and unique gaming that abound inside.
Renovations at the D focus on modern styling, while maintaining elements from classic Vegas and introducing glimpses of Detroit:
· the D stands for many things. Drawing inspiration from its home in Downtown Las Vegas and its owner’s hometown of Detroit as well as his first name.
· A new lobby and valet lead guests to one of the only two-level casinos in the city offering the latest in slots and table games on the first floor and a Vintage Vegas gaming experience on the second, featuring an array of coin-operated slots and the beloved Sigma Derby simulated horse-racing game.
· 624 remodeled rooms offer modern, updated accommodations while 14 luxury suites provide guests with a lavish space for relaxing or entertaining.
· Two new high-energy bars LONGBAR inside the casino and D Bar on Fremont Street serve up frozen libations, an extensive beer menu and traditional cocktails 24/7.
· Featured on The Today Show, The Food Network and The Travel Channel, Detroit’s iconic American Coney Island restaurant opens its first-ever location outside of Michigan, serving up legendary Coney Dogs.
· Offering an entirely new take on the neon signage of Sin City, the D’s Fremont Street façade is now home to an exclusive interactive video display, known as “Face to Face,” which broadcasts colorful, dynamic content across hundreds of feet of LED signage and forty giant flat screen televisions.
A Glimpse into the D Las Vegas:
· Dream & Doze. Guests will enjoy 624 completely remodeled rooms. The contemporary accommodations feature clean lines, bold colors and sleek gaming-inspired decor. Amenities include pillow-top mattresses, flat-screen TVs, safes, iPod docking stations, high-speed wired and wireless Internet access and more.
· D-luxe Suites. the D’s expansive new suites offer first-class luxury accommodations in the midst of downtown Las Vegas’ exciting atmosphere. The two-room suites inspired by classic menswear feature rich woods, marbles and leathers complemented by custom, hounds tooth carpeting and a pinstriped, felt couch adorned with herringbone and tweed accent pillows. A full wet-bar with black marble countertops and two refrigerators leads into a large, well-appointed entertaining area with three flat-screens. Expansive windows look out across the Las Vegas Valley providing an unrivaled perspective from the tallest building downtown. A separate sleeping area with plush, king-sized bed, flat-screen and lavish bathroom offer a private escape.
· Double Down. The unique two-level casino boasts the latest in slots and table games manned by playful dancing dealers on the first floor, and transport guests back in time to old-school Vegas with a Vintage Casino on the second. Gamblers can rock out to today’s hottest songs and enjoy 10x odds on Dice and all Blackjacks pay 3 to 2. On the second floor, those nostalgic for days past will delight in the retro tunes, jingle of coins and restored neon. Complete with the beloved Sigma Derby simulated, horse-racing game and a wide assortment of classic coin-operated three-reel slots including Double Diamond, Wild Cherry and Blazing 7s, there is no shortage of old school charm in the second floor’s throwback gaming experience.
· Down a Drink. When it’s time for a cold one, guests can pick their poison at three distinct bars. Immersed in the bustle of Fremont Street Experience, D Bar invites guests and passersby alike to enjoy refreshing frozen libations and specialty cocktails as talented, flair bartenders send bottles and glasses flying through the air to the sounds of the best bands around. Inside, guests can cool off at LONGBAR the longest bar in Nevada, stretching the length of the first floor casino. Outfitted with massive flat-screens for prime sports watching, LONGBAR is an uninhibited locale for gathering, gaming and drinking. Upstairs, guests can take a break from vintage gaming to select from the extensive beer menu offered at Vue Bar.
· Delectable Dining. Detroit’s iconic American Coney Island brings its first out-of-state location to the D. A favorite of Detroiters and visitors for nearly a century, American Coney Island is the oldest family-owned business in Detroit. Founder Gust Keros coined the phrase “Coney Dog” and introduced the now legendary treat to the city of Detroit in 1917. The high-quality, specially seasoned, natural-casing Dearborn sausage brand hotdog is topped with the Keros family secret recipe Coney Island Chili Sauce, fine mustard and sweet chopped onions, and served in a warm steamed bun. The restaurant has continued to attract loyal patrons from every generation in Detroit and around the country. American Coney Island joins Courtyard Grill, serving up traditional American fare for breakfast, lunch and dinner and Don B’s Steakhouse.
· Dazzling Display. On the D’s Fremont Street Experience façade, an exclusive new lightshow designed and developed by Cirque du Soleil visionary Roger Parent, brings the casino’s exterior to life with “virtual tapestry technology.” Unlike any other light feature in Vegas, “Face to Face” features forty massive flat-screens arranged in mobile panels to stream colorful LED content 24 hours per day. An adjacent LED exterior escalator whisks guests to the second floor as playful graphics dance and swirl across the screens, interacting with passersby and leading the way inside. Additionally, Face to Face’s panels contract to create a mega screen, displaying content from live acts performing on nearby 3rd Street Stage.
· Dance with Prince. Die of Laughter. the D offers a lineup of entertainment in the showroom, sure to appeal to any guest. “Marriage Can Be Murder,” an award-winning interactive comedy and murder-mystery dinner experience, invites audience members to become a part of the show every night at 6:30 p.m. Thursday Sunday, guests can join Jason Tenner and his band as Purple Reign, THE Prince Tribute Show performs live renditions of the legendary singer’s famous hits.
· Do Business. Featuring 8,000 square feet of meeting space, the D Las Vegas is equipped with one ballroom and four reconfigurable break-out rooms privately located on the 12th floor and conveniently accessible to guest rooms by elevators. The space can accommodate groups up to 300 people, whether for meetings, weddings or special events and has audio and visual equipment to keep events running smoothly. All meeting rooms will also soon offer Hotspot Wireless access at broadband speeds.

The Venetian Resort-Hotel-Casino in Las Vegas to Set a New Standard in Entertainment with the Real Deal
The Real Deal!, the first ever live, interactive poker-themed stage show, is at The Venetian Showroom at The Venetian Resort-Hotel-Casino in Las Vegas. Working in partnership with the world’s most renowned poker professionals, the show introduces a new paradigm in entertainment, establishing a completely original live show format that combines humor, the latest in wireless technology, and abundant prizes in wildly-fun, fast-paced action that will entertain poker enthusiasts and non-players alike.
Staged in The Venetian Showroom as part of The Venetian’s extraordinary lineup of entertainment offerings, The Real Deal! empowers the audience to participate both on-stage and from their seats through the use of wireless touch screen devices. The Real Deal! will use a revolutionary multi-player platform with interactive content in conjunction with technology from TimePlay Entertainment, Inc. Playing both against and alongside the pros, audience members will earn points to vie for prizes ranging from The Real Deal! logo’d merchandise to spectacular home electronics and more, including a chance to win a $1 million grand prize.
The Real Deal! roster of poker pros represents a Who’s Who of the sport and includes the legendary Doyle Brunson, Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, Jr., Antonio Esfandiari, Gavin Smith, Eli Elezra, Jennifer Harman, Phil Laak, Scotty Nguyen, and Todd Brunson. The pros will participate in shows each month, taking on Vegas visitors of all poker skills and experience. Combined, the The Real Deal! professionals have won 8 World Poker Tour Championships (WPT) and 35 World Series of Poker TM (WSOP) bracelets, amassing over $48,000,000 in tournament prize money.
“Never before has poker been so integrated with entertainment,” said Merv Adelson, the inspiration behind The Real Deal!. “The popularity of poker is unquestioned, as is the viability of live game show experiences in Las Vegas. The Real Deal! will keep guests laughing and give them the unique chance to get into the heads of the world’s best pros as they share tips and strategy throughout the fast-paced game. We know it will quickly become a hot ticket.”
Casting is underway for the show host, and the producers are talking with well-known comedians who they feel will bring an energized blend of humor and poker information to the audience while keeping the action moving. The chance to take on poker’s superstars without having to risk big money is more than enough to drive interest, but The Real Deal! goes far beyond the action on the stage, appealing to both poker aficionados and those who have never thrown a chip in a pot.
Participating audience members will play along during the on-stage game with a wireless handheld console. The large collection of prizes will be awarded to individuals based on their game performance, such as their play of the virtual “ninth hand.” However, there will be many other random winning moments! For example, audience members will be able to wager on simple instances that will occur during play, such as the suit of cards dealt on the flop. Every show, audience members will also have the chance to draw for a Royal Flush and win ONE MILLION DOLLARS.
An elimination process will result in the chip-leading pro, the final surviving amateur, and the point leader from the play-along audience, on stage for a three-handed finale.
The creation and production of groundbreaking entertainment is nothing new to Adelson and the members of the production team. Adelson, co-founder of Lorimar Telepictures and former vice chairman of Time Warner, Inc., put together an elite team headed by executive producer Gary Smith, an eight-time Emmy® Award winning producer and director of esteemed live shows including the Tony Awards and The Emmy® Awards, Producer Bill Nuss, who has written and produced over 300 hours of network primetime television, Chief Operating Officer Gary Adelson, a veteran Hollywood deal maker and producer, and Erick Brownstein, a highly regarded creative strategist and new media marketer, as Director of Technology.
The Real Deal! will entertain six days a week at The Venetian Showroom in Las Vegas, with shows at 4 pm and primetime performances on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. In addition to general tickets, a limited number of VIP packages will be available for each show that include an opportunity to meet the poker stars after the show. Creating a new category of the ultimate Las Vegas lodging, The Siegel Group brings you RUMOR, setting the standard for boutique chic resorts. Formerly the St. Tropez Hotel, the two-story, intimate RUMOR is now open, featuring a powerful combination of compelling elements: hot location, cool pool, zero attitude, modern rooms and unexpected amenities all in a unique boutique hotel setting. Having watched the Las Vegas skyline grow bigger and taller with each new resort built on the Strip, Stephen Siegel, founder and chief executive officer, The Siegel Group, decided it was time to turn conventional wisdom on its head and craft a new vision for Las Vegas which included personal, boutique hotel properties.
To create this stylish chic resort retreat, The Siegel Group collaborated with award-winning Las Vegas based interior design firm Tandem to bring Siegel’s vision of the 150-suite RUMOR to life. The reborn RUMOR evokes the stylish feel of a Las Vegas-meets-Palm Springs hotel with a Los Angeles feel infused with unconventional design that create a cozy, boutique resort featuring distinctive character and charm.
Visitors see right away there’s something quirky and fun waiting for them inside RUMOR. They are greeted by Chinese foo dogs, hand carved from solid slabs of distinctly colored cantera stone. The porte cochère is perfectly framed in flowing drapes and the ceiling above supplements its own show of colorful hues and inviting patterns.
A sense of wonderment and delight greets guests as soon as they enter, with 10-foot glass doors revealing a stunning display of original artwork which sets the tone for what is to come. A departure from the impersonal and vast typical casino lobby, RUMOR’s lobby has an ultra-lounge feel, awash with soothing ivory and white tones accented with an injection of criss-crossing metallic lines on the pavered floor. As if given new life from a Victorian era, the front desk features traditional millwork, all in tranquil white.
Natural light floods the area as the lobby lounge merges seamlessly with the oasis outside. Guests experience effective pops of lavender colors throughout the contemporary property and the bar serves as a stunning centerpiece, finished in luxurious Carrara marble. Also making its debut is the property’s restaurant: Addiction. Incorporating classic dishes with a modern flair, the “addictive” cuisine is available for breakfast, lunch, dinner and room service. Helmed by popular chef Vic Vegas, Addiction’s signature dishes include his incredibly unique crème brûlée oatmeal, Cuban Reuben, sea bass satays or Kurobuta karmal pork. The restaurant’s sleek décor includes a clever portrait of a hot pink knife, fork and spoon, which adorns one of the walls. A private dining room seats 12 with dripping chandeliers and an oversized high communal table. Here, guests enjoy an intimate function or mingle while overlooking the lobby when it is open. The main restaurant spills out into the courtyard with indoor and outdoor seating.
Speaking of the outdoors, completely unique to RUMOR is its courtyard which features its signature pool area, wet deck and lawn, all framed with matured palm trees. A perfect oasis for either relaxed lounging or enjoying the energy of the pool party scene, the pool area and shimmering wet deck provide a unique outdoor setting and experience. By day, the sparkling water and lush surroundings soothe and energize. By night, it transforms into a magical hideaway with DJs and live musicians performing under flickering lights. With grassy knolls and swaying palm trees, the lawn is the perfect place to enjoy house music under the stars, a Central Park-style picnic with a stylish RUMOR twist, lie in a hammock with drink in hand or even enjoy special events, parties, fashion shows and weddings. What’s more the hotel doesn’t just welcome people; RUMOR welcomes pets, offering an outdoor dog run, customized in-suite bowls and plush dog beds.
Half of RUMOR’s 150 suites face into the courtyard and feature either a balcony or a patio, creating an amazingly interactive social scene not found anywhere else in Las Vegas. Corridor walls are adorned with cool decals and are superbly complemented by the hounds tooth carpeting. The suites create a dreamlike aura as guests are greeted with captivating gray-hued walls and feature a splash of playful lavender patterns, while the magical mood and vibe is enhanced by a carved wall medallion strategically situated above the bed. Suites boast additional funky features - a basket of sugar confections, Warhol-inspired chandelier art and well-appointed sleek furniture. Meanwhile, many suites feature oversized tubs that are surrounded by mirrors and come complete with scented bubble bath for private late night pleasure.
RUMOR has unveiled the Fantastic Four Suites by revered designer Mark Tracy of the acclaimed design firm Chemical Spaces. Each will showcase strong architecture, with bold square lines in the flooring, beds and ceilings. Utilizing a basic color palette of gray, black and silver base tones, the suites will be playfully punctuated with bold accents of pink and purple.
Located where Paradise meets Harmon, RUMOR is directly across the street from the famed Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. RUMOR is part of The Siegel Group’s Boutique Chic Retreats collection. Sister properties include Artisan; The Resort on Mount Charleston; Gold Spike and Oasis at Gold Spike.

Inspired by the spirit of The Beatles and created by Cirque du Soleil, The Beatles Revolution Lounge opened in December at The Mirage. Opening its doors only six months after the high-profile launch of The Beatles Love, Revolution will offer an extended experience before and after the show.
Revolutionary in design and atmosphere, this ultra-lounge will feature cutting edge, interactive experiences to create a psychedelic sensory environment and a contemporary interpretation of The Beatles era. Each night will be an evolutionary journey, where both the music and interior transform, resulting in an eclectic nightlife adventure at The Mirage. “The inspiration for REVOLUTION began with The Beatles’ message of love but the atmosphere will be a modern twist on their era of freedom, self-expression and free-love,” said Jean-Francois Bouchard, Creative Director, Cirque du Soleil Experience.
Scott Sibella, president and COO of The Mirage, said “The Beatles Revolution Lounge is the next dynamic step in the continuing transformation of The Mirage. Revolution will bring an even higher level of energy and excitement to the resort.”
This is the first time Cirque du Soleil draws upon their innovative talent to create a unique nightlife experience in Las Vegas. Revolution will be operated by INK, the premier nightclub operator in Toronto, currently managing seven highly successful nightlife complexes in Canada.
Revolution will hold 400 persons.
Hours: The Abbey Road Bar, located in front of the main entrance of Revolution, will be open from 11am daily. The Revolution Lounge will be open 7 nights a week from 5pm until 5 am.

Where to Eat
Laurent Tourondel Amplifies Classic Burgers for Las Vegas: BLT Burger Opened at The Mirage
As the famed resort continues to grow its roster of dynamic restaurants, BLT Burger is an approachable yet innovative addition to its dining options. Tourondel was named one of Food & Wine magazine's Best New Chefs in 1998 while cooking in Las Vegas at Palace Court Restaurant. He has since created several successful restaurants around the country and was honored as Bon Appétit magazine's 2007 Restaurateur of the Year.
'It'‚s exciting to come full circle,' Tourondel said. 'The Mirage is one of Las Vegas‚ leading destination resorts, and I‚m excited for BLT Burger to join the mix.' BLT Burger offers a variety of burgers including beef, American Kobe, lamb and Atlantic salmon, each served on soft buns with tomato, red onion, iceberg lettuce, pickles, ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise. The beef patties are a combination of Certified Black Angus sirloin, short rib, chuck and brisket. Specialty burgers include the Tex-Mex, a 7-ounce beef burger with jalapeños, chili, avocado, salsa, jack cheese, onions and sour cream; Lamb Tandoori Burger, a slightly spicy Colorado lamb burger topped with mint-cilantro yogurt sauce, cucumber, olives, red onion and tomato; and a signature Meatball Burger composed of ground veal, pork and ricotta and served with garlic pomodoro sauce. In true Las Vegas style, Tourondel offers The Stripper, a 7-ounce beef burger served with lettuce, tomato, onion and bell pepper without the bun.
Though burgers take center stage,BLT Burger's diverse menu offers a number of tempting starters and salads in addition to more than eight types of fries and rings, including waffle-cut, sweet potato, jalapeño poppers and fried pickles. Beverages afford just as many options, with an array of milkshakes in classic and spiked varieties, innovative cocktails, as well as an impressive beer list and focused wine selection to quench every guest's thirst. Cocktails are cheeky nods to Las Vegas entertainment and include such selections as The Showgirl (Plymouth Gin, St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur and lemon, grapefruit and cranberry juices), Dancing with the Devil (Sauza Blanco Tequila, Crème de Cassis, lime and ginger beer) and Tumblin‚ Dice (Knob Creek Bourbon, Fernet Branca, bitters and a splash of cherry).
Milkshakes tend toward the whimsical and are inspired by classic American desserts: the Twinkie Boy blends vanilla ice cream, a Hostess˙ Twinkie and caramel syrup; Give Me S'More combines chocolate ice cream with toasted marshmallows and graham crackers; and the Puddin‚ Pop is a rich slush of chocolate ice cream, chocolate pudding and chocolate shavings. For those who want to add extra punch to their shake, BLT Burger's Spiked Milkshakes are the perfect adult treat in flavors such as The All Nighter (Kahlua, Baileys, espresso and coffee ice cream), The Highlander (Guinness Stout, Coole Swan Irish Crème and vanilla ice cream) and Malibu Barbie (Malibu Rum, pineapple juice, coconut milk and vanilla ice cream).
To further satisfy a sweet tooth, desserts include sundaes in either Strawberry Cheesecake or Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough flavors; a French twist on the usual Ice Cream Sandwich with a Dutch chocolate macaroon and hazelnut ice cream; and 'Krispy Kreme' Doughnut Bread Pudding with rum-raisin coconut sauce.
Scott Sibella, president and COO of The Mirage, said, 'Burgers, fries and shakes prepared by a chef as talented as Laurent Tourondel are a sure hit. BLT Burger is a wonderful addition to our offerings and certain to be a great success.' Designed by Rockwell Group, the 198-seat BLT Burger is an ideal setting to showcase the craftsmanship and freshness behind Tourondel's superlative hamburgers. The hip and casual setting reflects both the natural Nevada landscape and the glamour of Las Vegas with end-grain wood, walnut and yellow-glazed lava stone, accented with red glazed brick, golden furniture upholstery and dramatic lighting.
According to designer David Rockwell, 'BLT Burger celebrates the DNA of the burger with the central grill, which is surrounded by beautiful glazed red brick tile. I wanted to emphasize the ritual of grilling burgers in the midst of the Nevada landscape.'
The entrance features a dimensional wood block ceiling that is illuminated from behind, changing in color and intensity to transition from day to night. The comfortable banquettes and booths in the front section of the restaurant have views of the grill and are accented with polished, chrome pendant lights for intimacy. Throughout the space are table tops lacquered with large table numbers, simple schoolhouse-style wood chairs and patterned gobo lights that provide a club-like atmosphere for late-night dining. The 16-seat, yellow-glazed lava stone bar has barstools accented with stitching details. The illuminated bar is a perfect place for sitting and eating while watching the action. Overhead flat-screen televisions display sporting events during the day and digital imagery for an evening ambiance.
The curved walls of the back section of the restaurant evoke an outdoor environment with a 16-foot, floor-to-ceiling sepia tone panoramic photo mural of the surrounding Sierra Nevada landscape. The circular open grill is surrounded by a polished, red-glazed brick wall and covered by a large metallic dome illuminated with colored lights.
BLT Burger, located at The Mirage Hotel & Casino, 3400 Las Vegas Blvd South, is open Sunday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, 11 a.m. 2 a.m.; Monday, Thursday-Saturday, 11 a.m. 4 a.m. Reservations are not required. For more information, please visit www.bltburger.com; www.mirage.com or call 702.792.7888.

The Market List
To make Las Vegas’ only seafood buffet the success it has come to be since opening in 1997, a tremendous effort is required, consisting of purchasing only the freshest seafood, proteins and ingredients from around the world. Complementing its global menu, chefs designed the new Village Seafood Buffet to capture an international array of unique flavors. This includes featuring the essence of the Mediterranean, the vibrant cooking traditions in the Pacific Rim, the rich and flavorful creations indigenous to the Baja region, the exotic, eclectic flavors of South America where guests enjoy carving stations featuring six types of proteins that be made into succulent skewers and the diverse ingredients and cooking styles of North America.
To pair with the cuisine, sommeliers will pair wines that bring out the best flavors in the selections. In addition, the Rio beverage team developed a collection of specialty cocktails. With fresh sushi remaining a primary component of the menu, the team created the “Coast to Coast,” a refreshing blend of gin, berry cognac, cucumber, fresh lemon and just enough ginger syrup to give a hint of Asian influence.
To complete the experience, the gelateria, otherwise known as the dessert station, showcases the custom-made silver rotating gelato display with 10 flavors and flambé station, as well as a bevy of classic plated deserts including cheesecakes, cookies and crème brulees.

In fact, guests can expect popular selections such as lobster to be refreshed practically every 10 minutes.
Guests experience a new sound system boasting crisp sound quality and new lighting special effects. Attention to customer comfort is abundant with new tables including Viking tables that seat 15 to 20 guests, leather chairs and high back banquettes in various shades of metals, blues and purples, which add warmth and modern style and to the atmosphere.

Lovelock -- A Unique Destination For Lovers -- Love Remains Locked in Rural Town
Lovers can celebrate an anniversary of a different sort…but one that is no less romantic than their own. The city of Lovelock, Nev., located 103 miles east of Reno on Interstate 80, is celebrating the second anniversary of Lovers Lock Plaza, a one-of-a-kind attraction where lovers can fasten a lock to a never-ending chain to symbolize their everlasting love. Since its inception, lovers from around the country and even across the globe have come to Lovelock to lock their love forever, joining part of an age old Chinese custom revised into Nevada tradition.
“As the nation’s only love-locking destination, Lovelock has seen an increase in visitors coming to the small town over the last two years with the primary purpose of locking their love for eternity,” said Kirsten Hertz, operations manager for the Greater Pershing Partnership. “Viewed as the perfect romantic gesture, couples have even planned destination weddings in Lovelock, first tying the knot then locking their love.”
Lovelock’s “Lock Your Love” tradition is borrowed from China, where for decades, lovers place a lock upon an “endless chain” along the Great Wall in the Yellow Mountains and elsewhere. The love locking tradition is also alive in Italy, with lovers affixing locks to the Ponte Vecchio and Ponte Milvio and throwing the keys into the Arno and Tiber rivers.
Adjacent to the Pershing County Courthouse, Lovers Lock Plaza features a series of green posts connected by chains and lovers’ locks. The peaceful location in the heart of town is easily accessible several blocks north of the interstate exit. Businesses in the community support the tradition by selling locks that can also be engraved locally with lovers’ names or a special message. Lovers are encouraged to bring their own locks as a way to personalize the experience.
The town of Lovelock also has several chapels and churches for wedding ceremonies, along with numerous lodging options and various attractions and amenities to enjoy during the first hours or days of wedded bliss.
For more information on Lovelock, Nevada, and the Lovers Lock Plaza, contact the Greater Pershing Partnership at 775-273-7213 or visit www.loverslock.com.
The city of Lovelock is located off Interstate 80 in central Nevada and serves as the gateway to “Nevada’s Cowboy Country.” With a population of just over 2,300, the town is home to numerous historical sites and unique locations including Lovers Lock Plaza, the nation’s only love-locking destination. Lovelock also serves as a base camp for adventure and activities including fishing, hunting, boating, hiking and geo-caching.
Valley of Fire State Park
The Valley of Fire State Park derives its name from red sandstone formations, formed from great shifting sand dunes during the age of dinosaurs 150 million years ago. According to park officials, complex uplifting and faulting of the region, followed by extensive erosion, have reated the present landscape. Other important rock formations include limestones, shales, and conglomerates. Prehistoric users of the Valley of Fire included the Basket Maker people and later the Anasazi Pueblo farmers from the nearby fertile Moapa Valley.
The span of approximate occupation has been dated from 300 B.C.E. to 1150 C.E. Their visits proibably involved hunting, food gathering, and religious ceremonies, although scarcity of water would have limited the length of their stay. Fine examples of rock art left by these ancient peoples can be found at several sites within the park.
The plant community is dominated by widely spaced creosote bush, burro bush and brittlebush. Several cactus species, including beaver tail and cholla, are also common. The springtime bloom of such plants as the desert marigold, indigo bush and desert vallow are often spectacular along park roads. Year-round birds include the raven, house finch, sage sparrow and roadrunner. Migrant birds also pass through this area, while most desert animals are nocturnal and not frequently seen by passing motorists or hikers. There are also many species of lizards and snakes, as well as the coyote, kit fox, spotted skunk, black tailed jackrabbit, and antelope ground squirrel. If lucky enough to spot the rare desert tortoise which is protected by state law, please do not touch it.
Winters here are mild with tempertures ranging from freezing to 75 degrees. Summer highs exceed 100 degrees and can go to 120 degrees, varying widely from day to night. Average annual rainfall is four inches, in the form of light winter showers and summer thunderstorms. Spring and fall are the best seasons to explore the Valley of Fire.
Check out the Visitor Center first for its exhibits on the geology, ecology, prehistory and history of the park and the nearby region. Here you'll also find souvenirs of all kinds at reasonable prices.
The park is open daily from 8:30 am. to 4:30 p.m. except on Christmas. An entrance fee is charged per vehicle upon entering the park at the fee both or at the self-pay station.
Additional fees are charged for use of the camping areas and is patyable at the campgrounds. Campsites are on a first-come, first-serve basis. Two have a total of 72 units. Campsites are equipped with shaded tables, grills, water, and restrooms, and a dump station and showers are available. Shaded areas for picnicing, with restrooms, are located at Atlati Rock, Seven Sisters, the Cabins, near Mouse's Tank trailhead and White Domes. There are also three group areas, each that can accommodate up to 45 people, though parking is limited. These are for overnight camping and picnicking by reservation only.
Hikers have many trails to choose from and those on duty at the visitor center can suggest the right trail(s) depending on how far you'd like to go.
What to see? -- Plenty. Atlatl Rock offers outstanding examples of ancient Indian rock art, or petroglyphs, including a depiction of the atlati, a notched stick used to throw primitive spears. The atlatl was a predecessor to the bow and arrow. The adjacent Atlatl Rock Campground has 43 campsites - some semi-primitive and others RV sites with water sand power hookups. This campground also offers showers and modern restrooms.
Arch Rock - Nearby the Atlatl Rock Campground is the more primitive Arch Rock Campground with its more secluded campsites. A two-mile scenic loop road provides views of some of the Valley's most interesting rock formations, such as Arch Rock and Piano Rock.
The Beehives are unusual sandstone formations weathered by the eroding forces of wind and water. Nearby are three group camping areas available by reservation only. You can see historic stone cabins that were built with native sandstone by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s as a shelter for passing travelers in the picnic area, while Clark Memorial honors an early traveler; from Fire Canyon/Silica Dome, you'll have a vantage point to see the deep red sandstone of Fire Canyon and the unique geological features of Silica Dome. Don't miss Mouse's Tank, named for a renegade who used the area as a hideout in the 1890s. It is a natural basin in the rock where water collects after rainfalls, sometimes remaining for months. A half-mile, round-trip trail leads to Mouse's Tank from the trailhead parking area, passing numerous examples of prehistoric petroglyphs.
There's more here to see - including logs and stumps, washed into the area from an ancient forest about 225 million years ago, that are known as Petrified Logs; and check out Rainbow Vista - a favorite photo point with a panoramic view of multi-colored sandstone. Seven Sisters is a unique rock formation easily accessible from the road and nearby picnic areas are a good place to grab a snack and drink. White Domes, sandstone formations with brilliant contrasting colors, a picnic area, and a one mile scenic trail is a 5.5 miles drive from the Visitor Center.
No matter which way you drive or hike, you'll be glad to came to this amazing park.
For more information contact Valley of Fire State Park, PO Box 515, Overton, Nevada 89040; 702-397-2088 or check web site email@example.com. The park is located six miles from Lake Mead and 55 miles northeast of Las Vegas via Interstate 15 to exit 75.

Upscale legal brothel Sheri’s Ranch has just upped the ante for Best Las Vegas Trip Ever with Sheri’s Ultimate Adult Sex Vacation packages, customized specifically for men, women, and couples seeking erotic adventure in the Sin City area.
The sex resort’s multi-tiered packages will include complimentary luxury car service, a room at the hotel, dinner and champagne with courtesan(s) of the client’s choice, and a voucher towards a negotiated sex party with a Sheri's lady.
Dena attributes this spike to Sheri’s unique offerings. “We’re the only legal brothel with a full-service hotel, so I think the word has gotten out that sex tourists can now take their time, relax and stay overnight, swim in our pool, dine at our restaurant, and have a tremendous amount of naughty fun with our ladies without ever leaving our 20 acre property.”
“There’s just so much sexual variety offered at Sheri’s, from our themed VIP Bungalows, Bubble Bath and Hot Tub Party Rooms, BDSM Dungeon, to our newly renovated suite of fantasy role play rooms and nuru massage parlor,” said Dena. “It really doesn’t matter what your sexual proclivities are, be it threesomes or fetishes or whatever, our ladies can accommodate your every desire.” Sheri’s Ranch is also the only travel destination in the United States that offers a legal, safe, and STD-free sex-fueled retreat for gentlemen and couples who previously could only venture out of the country to shady bordellos in the Caribbean or Southeast Asia, rife with sex trafficking and diseases, for extended adult getaways.
“Sexually adventurous Americans no longer have to leave the country to enjoy a pay-for-play erotic vacation,” said owner Chuck Lee, a respected former law enforcement official who took over the resort and remodeled it into a fantasy playground for men, women and couples looking for the ultimate thrill. “Our friends from across the globe can easily plan their next visit to Sheri’s.”
About Sheri’s Ranch: It sits on 20 acres of beautifully-maintained, private property, boasting a swimming pool, Jacuzzi, tennis courts, a sports bar/restaurant, six fantasy rooms, VIP bungalows and Sheri’s BDSM dungeon, while guests stay in the resort’s seven standard rooms and three themed suites that offer cozy fireplaces and romantic couples’ bath.
Location: 10551 Homestead Road, Pahrump, NV 89061.

A longtime favorite among business and leisure travelers, the Siena Hotel Reno is undergoing a major transformation. With sophisticated upgrades to all guestrooms, as well as all meeting rooms, restaurant, bar, common areas, fitness center, and an all-new Bocce venue, the Renaissance Reno Downtown Hotel will provide a welcoming environment to Reno travelers looking for an extra touch of forward-looking innovation. The end result will be Reno’s first non-gaming, non-smoking, branded, premier full-service hotel.
Blending chic décor with modernist design
Working from an end-to-end redesign by AIA Nevada Firm of the Year BUNNYFiSH Studio, the Renaissance Reno Downtown hotel’s new interior will seek to strike a balance between Reno’s pioneering past and its bright future as a growing travel destination. Guestrooms and suites will be renovated to incorporate cleaner lines, more neutral hues, and a casually chic décor, which will blend seamlessly with carefully placed rougher textures and uniquely organic touches that echo the surrounding landscape.
An abundance of amenities
The finished property will incorporate 214 fully renovated guestrooms, including 28 suites with breathtaking views of the nearby Sierra Nevada mountains and adjacent Truckee River. is the perfect place to relax after a day sightseeing. Within the hotel, Bistro Napa offers delicious food and a great Mojito which, of course, is named the Bistro Mojito! Thanks to the head bartender, here are the special ingredients so you can make one yourself. But, be forewarned -- it will 'never' come out as super as having one made here because the atmosphere is so charming.
The agricultural rum, 10 Cone's brown sugar notes meld in a perfect balance with muddled mint. So, if you want to try it yourself, use 1-1/4 oz. 10 Cane Rum; 1 oz Simple Syrup; 1/4 oz. pour of Grand Marnier; 1 whole lime; 6 large mint leaves, club soda and ice. Then --- squeeze the lime juice into the bottom of your glass and add the fresh packed mint leaves. With a muddier gently break the leaves off the mint. Add simple syrup, rum, ice and top with club soda. Stir the drik with a bar spoon to gently incorporate all flavors. Float a 1/4 oz. pour of Grand Marnier on top and garnish with fresh mint and lime wedge. Enjoy!.
What to See & Do
Reno, nicknamed "The Biggest Little City in the World," had its first permanent Reno Arch dedicated on October 3, 1926 to commemorate the transcontinental highway exposition held the following summer. "the Lincoln Highway," U.S. 40, known locally as Fourth Street in the Reno section of the transcontinental highway. After the exposition was over, a contest was held to determine what the new permanent slogan on the arch should be. Sacromenton G.A. Burns won that contest with his entry of "Reno, The Biggest Little City in the World.' A new arch was erected at the same location in 1963. The current arch was dedicated August 8, 1987.
The famous arch lights up downtown and welcomes visitors and residents. On Tuesday, November 17, 2009, the City of Reno celebrated replacing the 2,076 incandescent 11-watt bulbs in the Reno Arch with highly energy efficient 2.5-watt LED bulbs.
The original arch now spans Lake Street, adjacent to the National Automobile Museum. The second arch now resides in Willits, California.

Where to Eat
I ate at this restaurant and it was a brunch to always remember. Plan on spending 20 minutes or more just reading the extensive menu. The triple decker sandwiches are fantastic made with y our choice of bread - honey, wheatberry, rye, sourdough or French roll. Then choose your side: fries, fresh green salad, cup of soup, cottage cheese, sliced tomatoes or spuds. Almost anything you can dream of is on the menu, all under weird funny names. The breakfasts are definitely large enough to ask for a doggie bag at the end and they are right when they say "Best omelettes on the Plant." They are so sure you'll love what you order that if you do not love the food, they'll make it right or make it free! The decor is a trip in itself. Signatures of everyone who has eaten there are on the walls, and feel free in signing your name, too.
