Crimson Trace Corporation, manufacturer of Lasergrips® firearms laser sights, today announced the introduction of the company’s first product for the archery market: the LG-653 for BowTech® and Diamond Archery® bows. This innovative new design extends company’s grip-integrated, instinctively-activated laser sight technology to a completely new customer segment. The LG-653 is being distributed exclusively through BowTech and Diamond Archery. MSRP is $299.
“Over the years, customers have inquired about Crimson Trace making archery laser sights,” said Lane Tobiassen, Marketing Director. “We partnered with fellow Oregon company and archery innovator, BowTech, to create the most accurate, easy to use archery laser sight available. The LG-653 utilizes proven technology drawn from our firearms products, including instinctive activation, rugged construction, and precise windage and elevation sighting adjustments. It’s fun to shoot, and is a fantastic training tool,” he added.
The LG-653 replaces the existing grip panels on selected BowTech, Diamond Archery and OEM bow models. A pressure-sensitive switch on the back of the grip instinctively activates the laser when the bow is drawn, and then turns off the laser when the arrow is released or the bow is returned to the ready position. Precise windage and elevation adjustments allow the user to sight the laser to exactly match a yardage pin at any distance.
Laser sights add an exciting new dimension to target shooting, hunting and training. As a training tool, nothing can match the real-time, visual feedback on grip torque, alignment, string release, and other issues affecting accuracy. Laser sights are legal for big-game and non-game hunting in many states, and can make the difference between taking a trophy or coming home empty-handed when the right animal shows during low-light shooting hours at dawn and dusk. (Consult individual state regulations.)
Crimson Trace is the leading manufacturer of laser sighting systems for small arms. Police, all branches of the U.S. Military, and responsible citizens worldwide use patented Lasergrips. Crimson Trace Lasergrips are recommended as an essential accessory by some of the world’s top firearm trainers.

Recent surveys commissioned by the Archery Trade Association to review the National Archery in the Schools Program found that NASP makes a lasting impression on students, inspiring many of them to pursue the sport and improve their views of school and physical education.
After Kentucky launched the two-week introductory program three years ago, NASP rapidly spread nationwide as educators folded it into their physical-education curriculum for grades 4 through 12. The course teaches students the basics o target archery, while introducing them to archery's history and its equipment. By early 2005, the program was part of the physical education curriculum in 260 Kentucky schools, roughly 20 percent of the state's school system. And in March 2005, Florida became the 24th state to launch NASP, with Mississippi expecting to become the 25th in May 2005. The program's director, Roy Grimes of the Kentucky DFWR, is optimistic NASP will soon be in all 50 states.

Bow hunting for turkeys has become more popular, with hunters looking for more challenging and exciting ways to take a gobbler. Rick White and Phillip Vanderpool of the Hunter’s Specialties Pro Staff recently offered the following tips for getting started.
Rick: “It takes more movement to draw your bow, so you have to be well hidden. A turkey has great eyesight.”
Phillip: “I like to hunt from a blind, like Hunter’s Specialties 10-10 Hideout Pop-Up model. If I don’t have a blind, I try to build one to break up my silhouette, or stay in the shadows.”
Rick: “If you are hunting from a blind, keep the windows closed behind you or to the side so the light can’t shine in and turkeys can see you.”
Phillip: “Use a decoy to increase your odds. I like the Hazel Creek decoys because they are actual mounted hens and jakes. The gobblers can really tell the difference.”
Rick: “Place your jake decoy facing the blind. The gobbler will usually come in to face the jake, so his back is to you when you draw. I put my decoys closer to the blind than I would if I were shotgun hunting, usually five steps.”
Phillip: “I like to shoot expandable broadheads with 1 ?” cutting diameter or bigger. I always back the poundage down on my bow so I can hold at full draw longer if I have to. A turkey has a small vital area and you may have to wait for a good shot angle. I try to aim just above where the thigh joins the body cavity.”
Rick: “I agree that arrow placement is very important. The shot just above the leg is a good one, as well as a shot with the bird facing directly away from you. If the bird is in full strut, aim just above the base of the tail. I shoot most of my turkeys at 10 yards or less, so it is easier to make a good shot. Give the bird a few minutes to expire before you go to him. If you happen to break a wing, it is best to go after him right away. Be sure and use caution when picking up your bird because it may still have a broadhead in it.”
Phillip: “Bow hunting turkeys is very rewarding when you have a successful hunt. I hope everyone gets to give it a try this spring.”

Gun Grabber, the maker of the vertical gun holder, has created a product that is ideal for the avid BOW hunter as well. The Gun Grabber was specifically designed to properly and safely store long guns. The shotgun/bow model of the Gun Grabber provides an easy, unique, and safe way to store your bow, both in the field and at your home. This patented product was designed to provide a secure hold on the bow while not harming the finish of the bow.
Constructed from injection molded nylon and injection molded TPE or thermoplastic elastomer, the Gun Grabber provides a durable product with a solid grip, that allows for the quick and easy removal of the bow when the moment of truth is upon you. This product can be used in treestands and is ideal to use at home in the closet, or at hunting camp to help protect and keep your bow safe.
Initially designed as a safety storage device for shotguns by owner and inventor Rob Scott, he has realized the versatility of his invention for other hunting products like the bow. „Bowhunters run into the same storage and safety issues that shotgunners and rifle hunters do. That is why we made a Gun Grabber that was adaptable to the bow. This product keeps the bow safely and conveniently handy for the bow hunter while in the field and helps to protect the bow while not in use.‰
This is the perfect holiday gift for the outdoor enthusiast; the Gun Grabber is available in rifle or shotgun/ bow models and retails for $24.95.
It is available at sporting goods stores nationwide or conveniently online at www.gungrab.com.
The Gun Grabber is compatible with most bows, with the exception of parallel limb bows, however, due to the vast differences in bow construction, bows should be tested at ground level during daylight hours to determine the best way to mount the Gun Grabber. The bracket should be mounted at an approximate 45ßê angle to grip the bow limb. The Gun Grabber will also hold bows between the top bow limb and the cables and strings.
For more information on the Gun Grabber write to PO Box 888 Magnolia, AR 71754, call toll-free 1.877.486.4722, or visit web site www.gungrab.com
The most popular mechanical broadhead on the market, The Rage, is sporting new packaging that better showcases the unique broadheads for both the 2-blade and 3-blade heads.
'Our new packaging achieves several objectives,' said Larry Pulkrabek, president of Field Logic, parent company of The Rage. 'It is bold, distinctive and designed to stand out on the store shelf. Additionally, the new packaging is easier to handle, shows the unique features of the Rage and provides an overall better presentation among the competition.'
The RageTM line of expandable broadheads is based on revolutionary new designs like the patented SlipCamTM Rear Blade Deployment System and the exclusive ShockLockTM System. Unlike conventional 'over the top' or 'jack-knife' expandables, The RageTM broadhead positions each blade with the cutting edge outward. Therefore, as the broadhead hits the target the blades are pushed back into the ferrule where they cam out into a fully open position. Also, there are no rubber bands needed to hold the blades in position. The ShockLockTM System holds the blades in place with an O-ring on the base of the head. Simply push the blade into place and the O-ring automatically locks the blades into the shooting position. The O-ring also doubles as a shock absorber for the blades. If the blades hit bone, the O-ring absorbs the impact.
'A free practice head is included in every pack of Rage heads. The practice head flies exactly like a field tip of the Rage broadhead. A critical step in tuning your hunting bow is to make sure the broadheads you are using fly true. You can ensure that your bow is in tune and save your hunting broadheads for hunting conditions, while providing confidence in your equipment. As bows have gotten faster, broadheads have been getting smaller. This is in part due to the fact hunters are having problems getting their broadheads to fly true. The RageTM flies like a field point and offers two different blade designs, a two-blade 2-inch cutting diameter and a three-blade 1-1/2 inch-cutting diameter. This new patented design gives the bowhunter the best of both worlds: the accuracy of a field point and more efficiency than a fixed blade from even the most unforgiving, fast, high performance bow.
For an in-depth look at The RageTM and the revolutionary new patented designs, check out the new interactive web site www.ragebroadheads.com Be sure to spend some time looking at the High Speed Footage comparing the impacts of fixed, traditional expandables, and both models of RageTM.For more information about The RageTM, please write: The Rage, 101 Main Street, Superior, Wisconsin 54880, or call 1-715-395-0020.
Since the Company's initial introduction of layered foam targets in 1997, The Block® target has been a favorite target of serious archery enthusiasts around the world. The Block 4x4˙ continues the tradition of providing increased usability in a high quality target. The revolutionary Layer Trap˙ technology used in the Block 4x4 target provides archery shooters with all of the advantages of an open layered with the addition of four-sided shooting!
Patented Friction Foam fills the inside of the BLOCK 4x4 while the outside offers the revolutionary Posi LOCK Compression System. This proprietary combination provides an unprecedented degree of durability that tolerates shot after shot without allowing arrow pass thru, and arrow removal is easier than with traditional foam targets. The open, unglued layers of friction foam on the inside of the target stop the arrows with friction not force. Even the fastest arrows can't escape the efficient stopping power of the Block 4x4, regardless of whether you are shooting field tips, broadheads or expandables.
Users of the BLOCK 4x4 can consistently practice with both field tips and broadheads without worrying about target failure. Additionally, the target design on the sides simulates four different situations and allows shooters to practice diverse shot angles. The four different target images include the original BLOCK five-spot, a four diamond layout (located opposite of the five-spot), a deer silhouette with anatomically correct vitals and a deer silhouette with vitals that are condensed to imitate the shot placement angle from a treestand.
Available in three sizes, The BLOCK 4x4 Portable measures 18x18x16 ,the BLOCK 4x4 Pro measures in at 21x21x16and the BLOCK 4x4 Pup which is 16x16x12; they are available at sporting good stores nationwide.

It is safe to say that both the popularity in crossbow and its advancements over the past years have been significant. New materials, strings, sights and advanced designs have made the newer crossbows easier to use and more effective than ever. However, to hone in your skills during and off season, a specially designed target will maximize the targets life. Crossbow bolts penetrate with the same force as a traditional arrow, but due to the shorter length they will travel deeper into the target. Therefore, specially designed targets will insure long target life and maximum stopping power.
The Block is pleased to address this issue with its new Crossbow target, specially designed of orange high density foam to eliminate the issues associated with the penetration of crossbow arrows. This new Crossbow target measures 20"x20"x14" and weighs only 23 pounds.
Until now crossbow archers have had a difficult time with targets withstanding the impact of the crossbow bolt. The new Block Crossbow has been specially designed with a special extra-high density version of the patented Friction Foam that has made The Block the most popular archery target on the market. Arrow removal is easy with this new target ˆ simply twist or rock the bolt or arrow gently back and forth to break the bond that is formed with the Friction Foam. It is that easy.
The Block Crossbow is available at retailers nationwide and online at www.fieldlogic.com>www.fieldlogic.com. The suggested retail price of The Block Crossbow is $109.99.
